BOOK1: Evoke Reading Group (Proposal and This week's book)
I'd like to start a reading group here on Evoke.
I've got a shocking proposal: I propose that members of this group read books (dead tree or electronic formats, your choice...) and then discuss them.
Shocking, I know.
Fiction and non-fiction, just so long as someone considers that the book has something to do with Evoke.

Is it too late to join the book club?
Also, would it be rude to make a suggestion? Just I'm in Australia so it seems to take a bit for books ordered online to arrive, so maybe you could nominate books 2 weeks in advance to give us a bit more time to track them down and have them shipped?
Anyways, I will look for The Power of Unreasonable People just because it does sound interesting to me.

Brian is having a technical difficulty and is unable to sign on to the system, at this time. he asked me to keep the momentum going with the group until he can get back to moderate.
So lets find out where everyone is on the first book - The power of unreasonable people.
I have read the first section, currently compiling my notes for discussion.
What about the rest of the group.... please let me know if you have the book and how far along you are.
In addition please let me know when you would like me to start the discussion phase.
I want to thank you all for baring with us on getting this reading group off the ground - we may have a bit of a rocky start but I know this will be an incredibly successful group because of the incredible people in it.

I'm glad to have searched around a little today, I'm not really that familiar with this interface yet and didn't realize there is already a book club started!!
BOOK1_ My suggestion is Buckminster Fuller's "Critical Path". Its a testament to a life of learning and invention based on the future sustainability of humanity. After more than fifty years of research and 'design science' inventions Fuller wrote this very relevant, concise and probing book about pollution, political corruption, systemic economic collapse, population and the environment.
The nice thing about this book is that not only does it spell out many of the dangers coming toward humanity, but reveals actual solutions to these problems using current technology (as of 1980!!). I'll warn readers, Buckminster Fuller was known for his eccentricity, his style of writing has a different cadence to many other authors (he won a poetry award from Harvard when submitting scientific research in the 1940's).

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The meal
It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat.
