so lets say that one day half the worlds population wakes up and says "i'm tired of working at mcdonald's. i want to become a doctor so that i can be more productive in society and earn way more money."<br />

the world does not put dollar value on the importance or vastness of ones skills. it puts dollar value on how scarce or abundant those skills may be. for this reason, money is in fact the biggest detriment to society. for example, lets go back to the half of the population that wants to become doctors. there is no doubt that the people of the world would be better off if there was a 2:1 patient to doctor ratio. however, if there was suddenly mass enrollment in medical schools tomorrow, the doctors we currently have would probably do whatever they could to prevent these people from flooding the job market. money has conditioned people to protect scarcity in order to protect their own livelihood, even if it is a detriment to society.<br />
