Crisis Networking - Imagine

EVIDENCE TAG:
IMAGINE9
STATUS:

Who would YOU call on to make a heroic effort during a pandemic?

In this week's episode, Ember designed her own crisis networking solution. She asked ALL of the doctors in China to log into an emergency website to help run virtual Pearl River Flu clinics -- to answer medical questions from faraway patients, and analyze patient photos taken on mobile phones.

Ember's solution was an ideal emergency call to action. Why? Because:

  1. It's an easy-to-accomplish task,
  2. in a short amount of time
  3. that doctors already know how to do.

Ember played to the doctor's strengths -- and helped amplify their ability to help with an online network.

Not everyone has medical training. But everyone has a part to play during a crisis.

Your mission this week: Design an emergency call to action for a NON-medical community. Who else could log in and make a heroic effort during a pandemic outbreak?

Be creative: What could non-doctors do online during a pandemic to help? It can be anyone -- teachers, cooks, artists. Who else can you imagine saving the day during a pandemic?

Your objective:

It's the year 2011, and the next pandemic flu has just reached YOUR part of the world. You've been asked to organize one group of people online to do something that matters. Who are they, and what heroic effort will you ask them to make? Tell a story in a video or blog post about the crisis networking solution YOU devise.

This objective is worth +15 resourcefulness.

I would set up mandatory stations everywhere where people have to get a flu shot once every certain period of time. I would gather all of the best biologists and discuss the best way to protect our people from the disease, then communicate with the citizens about what to do.

i would get all of the smartest and most creative people i know together and we would work together to save the world.

Comment by Harris Cohen on December 5, 2012 at 3:07am

I would get as many funny people as possible, have a live broadcast, and make the world laugh. Laughter is the best medicine.

I would get as many scientist together to find a cure for the flu, then I would gather everyone I possibly can and teach them safety tips that can prevent the flu. Once I do that they will spread the word to everyone then no one will have the flu anymore.
Comment by Charles Schwartz on December 5, 2012 at 1:03am

I would get my group and we would start to spread the word. Once the word was spread we would try to bring this to the attention of our leaders. They could then do something about this problem.

Comment by Caroline Thomson on December 4, 2012 at 10:50pm

I would get the leader of my country or community (for example: a mayor) because thy have supreme power. However if they are unreachable I would tell my community because the spread of word can be very effective.

Comment by Sydney Koeneman on December 4, 2012 at 2:20am

I would gather people from my community to come and help those who have already been hit by the pandemic, or help prevent the pandemic from spreading anywhere else.

Comment by Lily Davis on December 4, 2012 at 1:27am
I would get as many people as possible to happen. If everyone works together, the flu won't spread as quickly and it will be stopped sooner. If everyone does their part, my part of the country will be safe. For example, if chefs and farmers make food, food supply will be covered. If scientists do their part, they could find a way to stop the flu from spreading more.

If our city, state, country, or world was in trouble because of a pandemic, then I would first call on every single licensed or near licensed doctor in the area and nearby regions who weren't affected to go out to affected areas and treat people. Anyone with only a bit of medical training would be sent out to provide information to the people on what to do and what was going on. Then, people who weren't sick could take short cla**** from medicine professors or nurses on what to do if they were in an emergency situation caused by the pandemic.

Comment by Zeba Huque on December 3, 2012 at 11:55pm

If our world was in trouble because of the pandemic flu, just a little or big group will never be able to do enough. I would get everyone to do their part. For example, a number of states would gather all and any scientists to figure out a solution. A bunch of other states with good crops and food growth systems would deal with the food supply. If we want to make a difference, we would need everyone to join.

Comment by Christpher Sprung on December 3, 2012 at 11:54pm

I would gather the president, scientists, doctors, and any one else who knew a way to stop the flu from spreading any more. we would be called "The Flu Crew", and we would help to stop the pandemic.

Comment by Celeste Cooper on December 3, 2012 at 11:17pm

I would get the president, the general, and scientists to help with clean and safe food, water, and life's other neccessities. They will be in a secret building underground. Anyone who is sick could come in and get cured.

Comment by Ellie Addington on December 3, 2012 at 10:34pm

I would get the presedent because he has the power to change or make laws. I would also get a goup of doctors and scientists so that we have facts and information about te flu.

Comment by Julia Sherrill on December 3, 2012 at 10:20pm
I would set up a secure hospital with clean and safe food, water, and other necessities. That way anyone who is scared or panicked about the flu can come in and be in a relaxed state of mind.
Comment by CeCe Street on December 3, 2012 at 9:50pm

I would gather the president, and four other scientists. The president because he has such power to change things and the scientists so that they can make a cure. Once we have a cure I would send a fog (like in the amazing spiderman 2012) of the cure over the wh*** world and cure everyone.

Comment by Neve Chambers on June 16, 2012 at 4:07am

I would set up a hospital and gather lots of water, food, medicine, first aid kits and lots of important things to help people with the flu other than medicine. The hospital would be set up somewhere clean like in a old warehouse or some place outside with shelter and where it is covered. I would get everyone with medical experience to help the sick people and I would make sure they all had full body protective gear and masks on so they didn't catch the flu. The sick people wouldn't be allowed outside or near the public untill we were certain they weren't sick. All sorts of card games, board games and soft toys would be donated to entertain the sick. We would plant many crops so the patients had fresh food to make sure it wasn't rotton or poisonous.

I would set up a hospital with plenty of food, water, medicine, and other things. We would get many people with medical experience to help the sick patients. Everyone would wear masks or other protective clothes so that they don't get sick.
Toys and board games would be donated to the sick people, so that they have something to entertain them while in hospital. We would plant crops, so the patients can have fresh food to eat.

Comment by Maeve Burns on June 10, 2012 at 9:39pm

I would set up a kind of hospital, with food, water, medicines and some first aid expierences. ALso start preparing for the future, with crops, also making sure that workers don't catch the flu.

Comment by Danielle Millar on April 27, 2012 at 9:13am

I would get a wh*** bunch of people from my community and make a temporary hospital to save the sick people. And the hospital workers would have to make sure that they don't catch the flu. All the people that did not have the flu would work at the hospital with protective gear so that they don't get sick and they can cure the sick people. And the people who are sick would not go out in public.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
