Empowering Women - ACT

EVIDENCE TAG:
ACT6
STATUS:

Help empower one girl or woman with better access to education or economic opportunity.

Your mission: Help empower one girl or woman with better access to education or economic opportunity. Make a small donation that can change another person's life forever.

There are 100 ways to support women's equal opportunities and rights via Global Giving.

Invite your friends, family, classmates, and neighbors to team up this week. Set aside time to explore the opportunities at Global Giving and pick a social innovation YOU want to help support -- and then work together to make a life-changing donation.

How much good can you do in a week?

If you can raise $30 USD, you can buy 500 bricks to build one classroom wall for a new girl's science lab in Uganda

If you can raise 72 ZAR, you can train two young girls as peer leader-educators in Bangladesh

If you can raise 22 EURO, you can buy feed and vaccine for an entire year for 1 woman’s poultry business in Ghana

OR: If you can't make a donation this week, spread the word: Use Facebook and Twitter to inspire your friends beyond the EVOKE network to support women's equal rights and opportunities. Tell them about your favorite Global Giving venture.

Your objective:

Work with friends, family, classmates or neighbors to make a contribution to a social venture focused on empowering girls and women. Tell a story about your efforts to donate, or to raise awareness, in a blog post, video, or photo essay.

This objective is worth +40 spark.

To contribute to this problem, I would post signs everywhere about many fund raisers friends and I could make to provide money for girls and woman. If I do this I could really help a lot of lives of woman.

In order to alert people of this issue I will volunteer, make a fundraiser, speak to people and let them know what is happening.

Comment by madalyn lieberman on November 14, 2012 at 11:10pm

I will make flyers and make a speech in heavily populated areas to tell people women need rights. I would say that it's not fair women dont have equal rights than men. I would try to get the word around as much as possible.

Comment by Kennedy Suttle on November 14, 2012 at 1:04am

To contribute to this problem I would walk around a busy area and teach them about women that are suffering. Then I would guide them and teach them about the solution. After that I would pass out flyers to come to an event and donate money for discriminated women.

Comment by Christian Sutton on November 13, 2012 at 11:17pm

I would spend the word by saying how women are treatedin this world and how hard it is. Next, I would start a fundraiser to earn money for the needed women in the world.

Comment by Zeba Huque on November 13, 2012 at 2:07am

For my part, I will get everyone around me to understand what is happening. I could explain the suffering women go through, and how we can help. Even getting just one more person to help will make a family's day.

Comment by Hannah Rose Fountain on November 13, 2012 at 1:02am

I will try to start some sort of fundraiser to earn money for one objective to empower women and I will provide lots of info to people who are interested

Comment by Julia Sherrill on November 13, 2012 at 12:58am

I will spread the word to raise awareness to help people in these situations. Equal rights should be everywhere.

ACT 6
I went online and researched what women go thorugh, as to make myself more aware. I then wrote a short paragraph and emailed it to my friends, asking them to forward to anyone they can.
Even just by being more aware, it can help someone

ACT 6

For this week mission I informed myself a lot about violence against women and children. So I decided to support an association which helps women who are not able to extricate themselves from their awkward disposition. And this association gives starting aid for a life after violence and savageness.
But for me it was important to support an association which is around me so I can be sure that my donation comes in. Some days ago I phoned with my parents and I told them about my thoughts about empowering abused women. They were very interested and so we decided to donate together for 'Frauen helfen Frauen' in Rostock, close to my hometown Güstrow.
Since 1990 this association is working for women in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania who had experienced (sexualised) violence.
There a several possibilities to assist the work. You can collaborate on al voluntary basis, become a member, a so called 'Vereinsfrau' or of course you can give a donation like my parents and I did.

I went to Global Giving and searched around for a bit and then decided to donate $25 US to what I think
is a very worthy cause. With my $25 one girl from Kenya will be able to attend school for one wh*** year.

I gotta tell you all about a group of women in my local. They take turns attending court cases involving domestic violence. Key here is that all cases have women victims. Statistics had tried to tell us that there was no difference in the way courts treated women as compared to the way men were treated...that is not so my friend, not so.

For my contribution to focus on empowering girls and women I joined a sorority. In my sorority we hold high ideals that all of our members must have to join my sorority. We help each other out by supporting different events that are put on within our chapter and we also raise awareness about cardiac care, which is our philanthropy. Did you know that the leading cause of death for women over 50 has to do with there heart? In my sorority we have fundraisers every year which we raise money for the Alpha Phi foundation which all the proceeds go to raising awareness about cardiac care. Once a year we also have cardiac care week at CSUEB where we table in the union and collect donations and inform students about cardiac care and what they can do to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I contacted a local Women's Homeless Shelter and asked them if they would like to take advantage of a temporary publication opportunity for the shelter. They agreed to a pamphlet distribution that my aunt who owns a copy shop sponsored. In the pamphlet we will include the following information, and distribute it to Planned Parenthood, Kaiser Permenente (peds, OBGYN, emergency, departments) and also public libraries in the Hayward Area.

I texted and emailed everyone in my phone as well as told them to forward it to their friends the website of JOINWATCH so that they can either donate or mentor a child. I also got my little sister's friends and my little sister and started to have discussions about body image and self confidence. This has become a weekly thing and i hope during the summer more girls can come and more older people can talk to the girls. Because there is alot going on with their bodies and image perception and most don;t have others to talk to. So by talking to one girl you can open the door to opportunites. Give them the courage to get maybe become the next president or achieve whatever they want to achieve in life.

i did not make a monetary donation, however i have donated my time. I as well as classmates volunteered at a battered womens shelter. We assisted in a store that was an extention to the shelter, where living necessities were available. I was very touched by assising because we were contributing in turning these women's lives around, voulnteering our services. It was very uplifting to make a difference.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
