Empowering Women - IMAGINE

EVIDENCE TAG:
IMAGINE6
STATUS:

What is life like in 2020 for the girls and women you helped empower in 2010?

Pick any of the 100 Global Giving projects designed to provide equal education and economic opportunity to women -- ideally, the same project you plan to ACT to help this week.

Think about how the lives of girls and women empowered by this very project will change over the next decade.

Some changes will come directly from their experience with this social venture. Other changes may come from major political, legal, technological, or social advances in their village, country, or region of the world.

Picture how all these changes might come together and tell us about a future where the girls and women you supported in 2010 are significantly more empowered than they are today. What is it like, and how did it come to pass?

BONUS RESOURCE: To help you imagine how different life might be for girls and women in the future, find out more about what life is like today:
What is the current state of women's rights worldwide?

(Not true)
Five girls, all who stood out and took a risk in thier home country now are founders of the worlds largest computer industry. they all are multi-billionares and have great homes families and lives. Back in Uganda they got jobs, played sports, and went to college, ulike other girls in thier community. this led them to be what they are now.

(not a true story)

One girl named Vivian(21) was walking through the halls one day. She didn't have to wear a burka anymore. She was encouraged to play sports and go to college. To get a job, maybe even start a company. She didn't have to hide anymore. She could support her family, and do things without judgement or restrictions. She was free, and so were her friends. Life was finally the way she wanted it. She could choose, and couldn't be happier.

In 2020 women can have the same jobs as men, do the same things as men and more women will likely be able to be presidents and have higher roles like that. Women will have more opportunities especailly in jobs and will become more independant and confident. In 2020 women have the same rights as men.

In 2020 women have the same rights as men. Women and men can do the same jobs, and have equal rights. In 2020 women have become even more confident and independant.

IMAGINE 6

In 2020 it would be a great improvement for all women in the world when (sexual) violence could be described with > Once upon a time... /strong>

So it is with the women I empowered in ACT this week. The association 'Frauen helfen Frauen' has helped many women and families to left behind years of violence and confrontation. Now the women are ready to be not a victim anymore, they have developed, become more confident and self-assured and they now help other women. They got help and now in 2020 they also become helpers. But they don't support only women and children in the area they help also women in large parts of the world. In this way major global networks developed which connect and network women to each other worldwide.
And because of this good and effective collaboration violence against women has nearly faded into obscurity. Mostly 'stories' are told but in reality things are much better as in the past.
Through targeted assistance and educational advertising violence regressed in the last 10 years.

It's 2020 and thanks to all the donations from GlobalGiving.com, women around the world have grown confident and independent. Not only have they become able to get away from the clutches of their abusive husbands, they have escaped many other kinds of injustice that have held them back for decades. More educational opportunities for women has led to laws about women having the same rights as men.

In 2020 life for women would have changed completly. At school, the "ew, yuck boy cooties" thing will be discouraged. They will have exsactly the same rights as men. Men don't rule the world!

Comment by Danielle Millar on April 24, 2012 at 1:18am

In 2020, women's lives will have changed, and they will have more equal rights than they did in 2010. Women's help will be needed more by men for things. Women will not rule the world, I believe they will just have equal rights, same as the men's rights and they will both equally run the world together.

The lives of the women my friends and I supported to become HIV/AIDS support group leaders in South Africa have been enriched tremendously. They were able to cut the transmission of HIV and the AIDS Viruses down by 95.5%. Their proactive approach in teaching their community about the viruses and safe sex has helped save lives in their community.

Life for women in 2010 inspired woman worldwide to go out and help out not just women but men and people that need OUR help. In 2020, women helped create powerful countries everywhere. building were made and job were available, people finally got equal oppunities.

life for the women in 2020 that i helped in 2010 is overwhelming. They are able to stand strong and confindent in their lives. They no longer have to fall victim to abuse again. They have learned from their experiences and are moving along making good decisions, and helping people that battle with the same types of issues that they have battled.

In the year 2020 the girls and women that I have helped will be happy and confident. The world will be changed greatly because my women have advanced their lives by coming together under the Idea that all people are valuable no matter what their station or condition in life. All life will be valued and therefor both sexes, men and women, will learn what it means to care for their fellow man in a humane and moral manner. Wars are no longer fought but hard won discussion prevails as communities come together to iron out differences. Knowledge and Inquiry rule the day as people share their stories and individuals come forward for counseling so that they can quit abusing others. Their anger, which is a healthy emotion, will be channeled in creative ways instead of the abusers tendency to hurt and kill. Great strides will be made in psychology so that a people become a wh*** person and not broken to bits.

It is year 2020 and thanks to all the donations from GlobalGiving.com, hundreds of women have escaped from Afghanistan, Iraq and Jordan. Not only have they escaped from the clutches of their abusive husbands, they have escaped many other facets of injustice that have held them back for decades. In fact, five of these women are now Fortune 500 executives. More educational opportunities for women has led to the implementation of new gender equality laws. More specifically, a revolutionary law has been put in place in Iraq that has outlawed spousal abuse. The Parliamentarians (some women) in Afghanistan, Jordan and other Middle Eastern countries have followed suit with steps to implement the same law. In addition, conservative interpretations of Shari'a (Islamic law) is becoming a thing of the past, which has led to more rights for women. And while discrimination against women is still prevalent in the world, the Middle East is a significantly better place women to live.

Naseema chose to report her husband to the authorities for murder. Now, her life is in constant danger as her husband tries to track her down, and her only hope is to escape her home country of Afghanistan. MADRE created the Afghan Women's Survival Fund to provide shelter, secret transport and other life-saving necessities to women like Naseema who are threatened for daring to speak out for their rights. http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/afghan-women/

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
