Hey Roy, I just tried uploading your logo to the ingeniousity site.

It turns out that the top display uses two different files:

If you're interested in creating graphic stuff for the new site then that's great. It uses a lot of different softwares, and all of them have their own 'themes' andd I really want to get them all co-ordinated. We need headers, themes, and icons - the groups thing especially is very ugly right now. Drop me a line if you can help out. (Gabriel is playing with the admin panel right now.)

Cheers
Chris

Oh, and the original setting is to have a sitename and slogan overwriting the banner. It's done in plain html, so we can turn it off, but I switched it back on for now in case you have any ideas for it. Obviously we can change the font, colour, etc or play around with the position.

Isn't it possible to customize joomla in any way we want?
Instead of using an in built theme, can you create your own?(Or get help from someone)

Also Evoke 1.5 needs:
1.Personal Profiles for everyone
2.A point system
3.A mission statement

Absolutely, if you know about CSS, HTML and a bit of php then you can create a template of your own. I occasionally change the code in templates that I'm using, but I don't know enough to create one of my own. You also need to have a good sense of colour and design, which I definitely don't.

The other thing is that I'm not just using Joomla. There's a mediawiki there too, which has it's own template, the phpBB forum (probably won't keep that), and the possibility of adding Ushahidi in the future too. Plus several of the key features (forum, ads, profiles, groups, blogger) operate independently of the template and need to have their own 'themes' created which will synchronise with the main template.

Ideally I would like to have a number of template 'packages' available, so people downloading the resource could pick the one they like.

As for the other stuff:
1. Profiles - there are at least five different ways to create personal profiles in Joomla, and a couple of them can be used simultaneously. So the profiling options are very flexible, although at the moment none of them are perfect. There will need to be some code hacking done to provide all the functionalities we need, but we're not re-inventing the wheel here. I've put a sample profile on there right now, but it's only visible to logged-in members.

2. There are a variety of points systems, but again they're all too generic and need tweaking. I have figured out a way to award 'power points' but don't know how to link it to individual blog posts. Again, some software required but 90% of everything we need is in place.

3. Mission statement - I wrote an article about the general aims before building the site. First off, I just focused on figuring out what functionalities were available and what needs to be done. I'll write the content when I have time, after 12 May.

Thanks for your input. Keep the ideas coming.
Chris

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
