Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

This is a call to every EVOKE agent.
While surfing the web, searching for informations to complete my missions, I bounced into this astonishing evidence. It appears to be the full shot, from which a cropped version was derived and shown in the 2nd page of EVOKE's episode three.
Do you recognize the man on the right of Alchemy? I already have my opinion about him, but I do not want to influence yours, fellow agents, neither I want to spread any panic.
I do believe we must understand what's going on here; we have to find a reasonable explanation to this, together.
Please spread the evidence. Take your time to think about it, but don't ignore it. Discuss it.

So, they are working together, collaboration is good, isn't it? I thought Alchemy quite liked pubicity. Nothing wrong with sharing information. Being able to set up a network,a secret society, has worked before, even by people by in the limelight. Secrecy and publicity seem to go hand in hand at times.
Are we working on a need to know basis? Seems like there is a great deal here that I need to know and need to learn.
Anyway, I am prepared to trust until I know better.
I must admit this is a very strange type of dual reality, 'fraid there' a lot I just don't get.
Thanks for the tip off, not sure what it means.
What do you think, Stephano Cieri? You seem to have more purchase on this world.
Best wishes

I didn't find any difference with the original, on the left side, but I'll investigate further. What did you notice, agent Panamericana?
Comment by MoE on March 28, 2010 at 8:51pm
@PJE : One one side, I just think what you also stated: Alchemy needs publicity. As the secrecy must be kept, the fact that somebody is doing something is to be spreaded around.
On the other side, I'm thinking of the consequences this might have on our work, as agents. Why haven't we been informed? Why are we sharing with Alchemy only part of his secret? What does he need to hide to us?
@Pan: I still don't see what you mean. As I said, I don't want to create any panic, then I would ask you to be more explicit. Remember, this is NOTAGAME

Pan- that is the agent that started the danceclub powered by dancing.

I haven't been reading the comics, and haven't any idea who either of the other men are in the image. I figure that the comics are just the part of the game that gets the more typical gamers interested in participating. And I did try to read one of them and found it pretty boring. But it sounds like you folks appreciate it. If you have a summary of what you think the plot is, I'd be happy to hear it.

Also, Stafano, where did you find this image?
Comment by MoE on March 30, 2010 at 4:47pm
@Edge : yes, it might be as you say. I appreciated your theory and explanation, but that poses new questions. I didn't investigate for the genuineness of that picture, as it is hard for me to think in terms of adherence to reality, when dealing with comics.
But let's assume we want to keep the suspention of disbelief. Let's pretend that what the graphic novel tells us is, well, reality. Let's also assume that what you said about time consistency within the narration is correct. What I would ask, then, is:
- what makes the sequence of events narrated within the novel more believable than the picture I've found? How can you tell that the inconsistency between the picture and the rest of the novel, undoubtedly means that it's that very last picture to be the fake one, and not the opposite?
- also, assuming that all the events are real as they're portraited in the novel, this means that somebody is portraiting them. Who is him (or her)? How does it come that this person knows where Alchemy's headquarters are, and where Citizen X agent is, everytime? How did EVOKE administrators get this material and why did they take no position (if they didn't) about it?
Finally, we're talking about the future: events in the novel take place in 2020. What does it mean? All of us, plus the organizers from EVOKE, are aware of what will happen, in advance; but does the fact that we're seeing those events portraited, intrinsically mean that we weren't able to do anything about that, until then? Will those events take place for sure, in the future?

@Turil : the man on the left is Alchemy, head of EVOKE; the one on the right is an agent from Citizen X, an organization which apparently will be obstructing the work of us agents, in 2020.
Actually I don't agree with you when you say "the comics are just the part of the game that gets the more typical gamers interested in participating". I'm pretty sure I'm not a typical gamer. I never played online game before and I can't consider EVOKE just a game. Instead, I think it's a huge social experiment, which could have deep implications in the way the Internet will relate to global issues.
In order to live the EVOKE experience in the most conscious way, I'm trying to read and watch as much as I can, both from gamers and from developers. To me, the graphic novel is just one more sign to interpret, in order to understand how developers are trying to address this network.
Somebody was reporting the history from the comic over the wiki; you can have a look there but I see it's not updated. Anyway the story is fully available on EVOKE's homepage and it isn't that long to read.
Finally, to answer your question, I found the picture on the wiki while looking for new pages to update the index; I couldn't find on the database who did the upload as anyone could do that, before (my mistake). I have now limited that feature only to logged in users.

@Neuromancer : http://urgentinvoke.com looks like a curious subversive project; are you still thinking to carry it on?

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
