Dinner in 2020

Best-case scenario, most food is vegetarian and healthy with little meat to decrease methane production.  But realistically, I'm not sure it would be that much better from now.  With the level of obesity getting larger every year, I do not think we can have that juristic of a change in 10 years...See More

"Ahh, your right about that. I live in the United States where oil is more avalible than some places, lets say Africa. If we have already hit peak oil, they're the first ones that will feel it, the farmers who already have a hard time finding…"

"Sorry to say this, but some people think we have already peaked fossil fuel oil and the problem is that we have already run out of cheap oil, now it can only get more expensive as it becomes more difficult to extract. I found this article…"

"I just realized, by creating a steam energy plant, you could use mirrors to direct the sunlight at a tube filled with watter, boiling it, and then use the steam to drive a turbine. I'm not sure what you could do with the energy though."

A better tomorrow.....

In my best-case scenario, 10 years from this day, I will wake up in the morning in a sustainable house, make of plants growing on a exoskeleton-like structure, as designed by Mitchell Joachim. I will ride a hybrid bike to school that charges a battery when coasting and allows you to use it when going up hill. I expect to work at a solar plant with solar panels at least 4 times as efficient as they are now. I will then go back to my house where I'll have dinner with my wife. We'll eat renewable… Continue

Innovate on existing platforms

Innovating on things that are already in Africa is one of the best tips around. Yeah, you might be able to ship a microscope there to look at the diseases that people have in their blood, but a simpler solution would be to create a microscope attachment for the camera on a phone that sends blood samples to health care professionals elsewhere in the world. Pick your favorite experiment and tell the EVOKE network why you think it will change the world.Of the proposed experiments and financial solutions, the community focused trade organizations, such as World of Good, have the greatest potential for stewarding forward a more prosperous future for developing regions. LEARN1- Social Innovator

My favorite, and perhaps most needed social innovation today, is "Don’t fight culture (If people cook by stirring their stews, they’re not going to use a solar oven, no matter what you do to market it. Make them a better stove instead.)"This simple idea has two meanings. First, it shows that the injustice of poverty and instability does not have a cookie cutter answer. Rather, it takes domestic and well educated responses that address the factors that drove a culture to suffer so, such as from…See More
