Learn 2: Food Security

Living in New York City, you can bet that there are a lot of restaurants both cheap and expensive that, at the end of the day, are bound to have leftover food that they won't be able to serve the next day. Many times I've seen these restaurants throw out bags upon bags of perfectly good food, leaving them on the curb outside of the restaurant for garbage trucks to pick up and haul off. It is disconcerting to think about and that is not even going into the fact that this happens every night.… Continue

Mission One: Act

For this mission I chose to shadow Emily Pilloton, the founder of Project H whose website can be found here. Project H Design stuck out to me in particular because of my Filipino roots.

Their Mission Statement: Project H Design connects the power of design to the people who need it most, and the places where it can make a real and lasting difference. We are a team of designers and builders engaging locally to improve the…

Mission One: Imagine

10 years? That's a long time. But to be honest I never thought I'd be living in New York City back in 2000.

10 years from now I would either be in Tokyo, or Washington DC, depending on where my job in the government needs my talents. More than likely the Food Crisis will be something I would be well informed on considering my area of studies, so I'm pretty sure Alchemy would waste no time calling me up to assist, whether it be through physical action or through the intimate…

Mission One: Learn

What does it mean to be a Social Innovator? When I think about it, I feel like a Social Innovator is someone who can think outside of the box. A person who sees what others see, and holds the capacity to appreciate rather than take for granted.

On that note, I live in New York City. Something that this city has a lot of is concrete, specifically paved roads, needless to say its easy to take them for granted. In the case of Exhibit A, the one thing that stuck out to me was…

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development.The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
