LEARN2: Kenya's Dilemma

Agent Shakwei Mbindyo posed a question for us all here: should smallholders in African countries grow food to export to Europe? In her comment Agent Jen Shaffer expanded the question: she knows that many African nations export flowers to Europe. Are either one of these, or both, a good idea for Kenya and Kenyans? Shakwei asks, does "food miles" or other environmental concerns make this a… Continue

Ken Eklund 2020 IMAGINE 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and 10

ONE and TWO

It’s March 10, 2020. I’m 62 years old. I’m inoculating wood mulch with Pleurotus spawn in the cool dampness of a cave, a welcome relief from the heat outside. It’s strangely calming to think like a mushroom spore, to let each microscopic bit fall where it has the best chance to awaken and grow.

This cave is a hundred years old. It was dug by hand to store wine casks, back when… Continue

LEARN1: Streamlining

"If you want to make something 10 times cheaper, remove 90 percent of the material."

The secret to this secret is "material." For me, this does not mean physical mass. Objects can be heavy with cultural, intellectual or emotional material, top-heavy with assumptions. Social interactions, in particular: sometimes I find that just removing my ego makes them 10 times better.

Hi Ken, thanks for your comment. I am traveling and with a very precarious connection, so forgive me if I do not reciprocate by looking up your blog straight away. I will, though. :-)

Hi Ken, I did a little research on you before accepting your friendship request. It is my nature and not necessarily a reflection on you. Obviously, you have passed my review. I am intriged by your request. What is it about my profile or Evoke nature do you find appealing? How may it benefit you? and me? and the greater community?
Be In Good Health.

Hi Ken! Thank you for welcoming me! My fundraising game-I don't know what I'm going to call it yet, it's my first game, but I've got Steve Havelka of the Brick Engine on my side, so I know it will be playable in a month or so. And I have 6 years of fundraising experience under my belt, so I know what the tasks will be. Plus, I can draw, so I can make the avatars and backgrounds. It will be 16 bit, so not too difficult. And there will be some challenging running and jumping sections too, I do want to keep it interesting. I look forward to having more to show you!
