Leila Chirayath Janah, my new hero - ACT1

As I moved around the web from one corner to another searching for a giant in “Social innovation and Enterprise,” to definitely make my new hero, I came across Leila Chirayath Janah, the founder and CEO of Samasource (http://www.samasource.org).

Samasource enables marginalized people from refugees in Kenya to women in rural Pakistan to receive life-changing work opportunities on the Internet. The core of this concept is microwork – little bits… Continue

A transformed Uganda in 2020! - IMAGINE1

About 10 years back, I was introduced to the concept of Social Innovation and Enterprise in the EVOKE network. The network really put me through some good brain work that helped me dig down into my community, understand the pressing issues it faced, and then critically come up with the solutions to those problems.

During that time, we were faced with high unemployment levels, low literacy level, and hunger among others. When I thought deeply about all this and compared the…

A wake to appreciation and satisfaction - LEARN1

Truth be told, am new to this wh*** idea and concept of Social Innovation but after reading here and there about the concept, I am glad to report that I now have the wh*** concept at my fingertips. What I carry in my head tells me that Social Innovation is all about coming up with new ideas, strategies, and concepts that meet social needs and strengthen civil society.

When I read through Alchemy’s link that he named “Exhibit A” which is about the 33 secrets of Social…

Ronald I can tell you a little bit about biodiesel. Basically it is possible to griw trees like Jatropha and POngamia that produce seeds which are very rich in oil. Like food crops they have a lot of dense oil that can be mixed directly with diesel if it is filtered properly and carefully. If there are adjustments made to the car or generator it can run on entirely biodiesel mostly you need to create a water jacket system that pre-heats the oil before it is used in the engine. I have a mercedes 380 which was converted to run on biodiesel (which is sold at local gas stations after is it treated) and regular veg oil. I got the car from my cousin who used it to go to college in Santa Cruz, she carefully collected waste oil from a Chinese restauraunt and for two years drove to school without having to buy very much diesel at all...just enough to start the engine on cold days. I think for Uganda jatropha tree would work well, the seeds are easier to get now than when i started on this. Mostly it can only handle a mild freeze. After only a year the tree starts to produce seeds, and it can be used as a fence against cattle.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
