Eating

SoHo, New York City- 2010

The microwave dings while I sit on the couch reading my favorite book, Animal Farm. I go to the microwave and take out the small portion of leftover pizza. Nowadays, food is hard to come by, especially for a twenty-three year old college student with a half-time job at the zoo. I can't eat pizza cold; it is disgusting in my opinion. I live with my roomate, Kylie, who has a part-time job at the local morgue. She's working late tonight and will…

Alabama Food Security

My homestate is number 39 on the list of food insecurity. People just don't have enough money to pay for food and other resources. In fact, where I am from, most money is spent on illegal gambling in "Bingo Halls" that the Gov has done little to shut down. According to Bizjournals.com, 13.3% of Alabamian households are food insecure while 5.4% have really low food sources.

Food insecurity is most promenant in the Southern states than anywhere else in the country.

Secretz

  1. Don’t fight culture (If people cook by stirring their stews, they’re not going to use a solar oven, no matter what you do to market it. Make them a better stove instead.)

This is an important rule relating to dealing with people. Don't impose your beliefs or culture on others. We Americans tend to do that to foreigners.

10 Years From Now

SoHo, New York City- 2020

I pull the collar of my jacket up to cover my neck as the frigid wind blows past me, leaving me shivering. As I walk down Houston Street, I see a newspaper and a magazine in a stand; One has pictures of children starving in Japan, their eyes sunken and vacant, their ribs pertruding, but the magazine shows only "glamorous" celebrities dressed down for the Acadamy Awards. It is sad to think that while nobody has bought the paper relating to the hunger…

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
