To start with girls, they learned English while the other same age kids didn't. They are well educated by learning English which is an one of the most commonly use language globally. By learning English they are now possible to communicate with lots of people around the world. They are now about in High School and got better and better in English every year and now they are aiming to get educated from college outside of the Indonesia, in English. Some are looking forward to learn English more in depth and be an English teacher so she can teach others who are not in an environment to learn English as the CAT CAS group did 7 years ago. Maybe she could create an non governmental organization that teaches English for free to educate children. The women who have learned how to create handicraft, she has taught lots of women around her since she learned how to make it. There are now lots of woman around her who have techniques to create handicraft. This woman has started a new small business where she collects all the plastic material from the town and create a handicraft bag and she sells it. It earns lots of profit because she gets the material for free from the people. From that she have earned lots of money for past years and planning on bigger business where she wants to collect more and more material from the city and employ woman who can make the handicraft and sell it.
ACT6: Empowering girl and womantag:www.urgentevoke.com,2013-03-05:4871302:BlogPost:2509362013-03-05T12:13:03.000ZHo Jun Konghttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/HoJunKong389

My mission this week as part of Mission 5, The Future of Money, was to make at least one economic transaction using a non-traditional currency, platform or exchange system I've never used before. Maybe try an alternative currency, participate in a bartering system or skills bank, and maybe want to make a micro-loan. However, I won't be able to try an alternative currency system or make a micro-loan right now. Thus, I chose to try a bartering system. Even though it is not a bartering system that is officially being done this was just my I went to my friends house to do art homework and when I went there before, about 3-4 times, I usually ate a noodle. Therefore, this time I wanted to pay him with something that worth the price of noodle. So, I prepared an erase because I knew he will have national exam soon and I wanted to give him an eraser as an exchanging item.

And this is his thought about what we did on that day. He said it is some way better than money and this explains why.

'Its good because now instead of just getting money back we can get items that have actual worth and use to them, and since we can choose what we want in return, we can get items that we might not have had access to or the time to go and get them. However, if you think about it, even if people do get their money's worth back through the item exchange, sometimes people just want their money back. Sometimes people just like having money in their wallets that they can choose to use at anytime they want.'

My thought about bartering system is it is some way better than money as well and my thought is similar to his thought. However, sometime, it is not better than money as well, because if we have lots of money we can just pay the cost of the item. However, if we try to exchange with an item, we need to find items that is worth the exchange item. Therefore, that is one of the limitation and thats why I think sometime it is not better than money.

14 February, it's Valentine's day. However, it was different to a hundreds of UN staff members. They held a special event that has launched by UN Secretary-Genreal Ban Ki-moon in 2008. In New York, where the headquarters of UN is located, the UN staff members danced and collectively rose up to call for an to end violence against women. It is also knows as 'One Billion Rising' this is an event that is being organized worldwide. ("As UN Staff Rise to End Violence against Women, UN Secretary-General Calls on Governments to COMMIT.")

The author name Eve Ensler, called this campaign will be “the biggest global action in the history of humankind to end the violence". "From the queen of the carnival in Rio de Janeiro and the queen mother of Bhutan, from prime ministers, nuns, zumba dancers, domestic workers, doctors and nurses, people around the world are joining the campaign", she says, adding that "even women who have never danced before would literally be risking their lives to dance on February 14th." ("ONE BILLION RISING: A Campaign to End Violence against Women." )

The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has spoke a message to One Billion Rising campaign. And this is my favorite part of his message "I urge all Governments to send us a Valentine message: a concrete commitment of action to end violence against women and girls." it tells people to participate to the action to end violence against women and girls. ("Secretary-General, in Message for ‘One Billion Rising’ Campaign, Seeks ‘Valentine Message’ from Governments Committing to End Violence against Women, Girls.")

I don't think they dance for a long time, it is quite fun or interesting way to raise up the awareness of something by dancing together globally, and in this case is about the ' End Violence against Women and Girls'. Any other ideas to raise awareness can be something to do with social network?, where all the people who are fan of UN page could share the image that is related to 'End Violence against Women and Girls' on that day, even though it is only one special day, Ban Ki Moon wants this event not to finish as one day event. Not only something related to Women and Girls it can be something related to something else and share it through our social network friends and spread the awareness of it. ("Secretary-General, in Message for ‘One Billion Rising’ Campaign, Seeks ‘Valentine Message’ from Governments Committing to End Violence against Women, Girls.")

Find all about them here. Yup, it is digital age now. I did think about that the future money won't be a paper or coin money, something physical. It is already sort of a digital age where we use credit card and internet banking where we transfer money through online, which is much faster. Electronic money will save much more thing such as from paper to produce paper money and reduce a metal or metallic material to create a coin. As well as physical money has fixed price to it, such as if you pay a $100 for a product that cost $98 you would get change to it. However, if you use card or an electronic money in the future you will be able to just pay $98 without getting any exchange and be more handy. Most people carry wallet to store their money and cards. Nowadays, there are some applications that can be use to pay or save money. One of the example is called 'Google Wallet', Google Wallet is a system that has been developed to store debit cards, credit cards, loyalty cards, and gift cards, as well as able to do a mobile payment. ("Google Wallet.") It is already being develop to use a technology to use to pay something for it. It will reduce the amount of losing the cards or money and get stolen. However this has security lock which is safe, but if it get crack by someone it wil be very bad. By using online electronic money it will be much faster interms of exchanging currency online and organize the bank book/account book. Many people use smart phone these days and in just next couple of years I believe most of the people will have a smart phone with them and using a much better technology to interact each other and much better applications to help to live a easier life.

They will have lots of fun and memorable memories by playing in mud festival. However, they won't go somewhere else unless they are clean after the big fun. Therefore, there should be a shower system there, but the point is to bring attention to the people about the importance of water. So, there won't be enough shower system as much as it really needs. It will be not enough water, by letting out only small amount of water at a time. People will be so annoyed about it. People will queuing up to wash themselves and this is where we get to the point to tell the importance about water crisis. By Asking them 'How do you guys feel right now? there aren't enough water here, and you guys want to wash yourselves quickly, but the reality is that this world is facing a water crisis. All the people probably will shower everyday without any discomforts. But the fact is that 'On average a shower uses 10 litres of water a minute' and how long do you guys take shower?. We need to be aware that not all people can access to clean water, we need to start to save water in many different ways. We need to start to know how important water is to us.Water use is increasing much faster than population. ("15 Depressing Facts About The Coming Water Crisis")

I knew some of the tips for saving water before, but I also found some new tips. Here are the tips from the website. I am turning off the tap when brushing teeth, few years ago I just let the tap to run water. One of my favorite tips is number 10, using water butt. Indonesia is a tropical region country, which has wet season and dry season. During the wet season it rains really badly and now here is wet season. Wet season usually starts from early October to April.("Weather of Indonesia.") Also the fact that Indonesian people uses lots of motorcycles and cars as their transportation is important here. My drivers washes cars everyday, except Sunday, using water. Also they come to work by motorcycles. They also wash their motorcycle with water as well, using water hose. However, if we start to use the water that we collect from rain water it will be really efficient. It rains almost everyday during the wet season. It will save lots of water by using water butt Thus, that is my favorite tip. I would like to suggest my parents about that tips and see how it changes the number on our water uses bill.

We celebrates by going to church and worship. However, even tough some people aren't christian they still celebrate Christmas by decorating lots of christmas lights all over their house. This christmas lights requires lots and lots of electricity, how are we going to generate all this light?. Well, because it is wet season during this time we can use a water turbine + solar energy generator. Water can be collected from the rain, and when theres no rain it can use by solar power. This generator will produce lots of energy, it will rain a lot during this season and when theres no rain it can still collect energy from the sun. We don't have to worry about electricity that is use by christmas light anymore.
Energy generator from hamster wheeltag:www.urgentevoke.com,2013-01-27:4871302:BlogPost:2489642013-01-27T07:14:22.000ZHo Jun Konghttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/HoJunKong389

Hamster loves to play on hamster wheel. It spins and spins, it can generate lots of energy. There are usually at least 2 hamsters each for each cage minimally. The energy that produces by 2 hamsters will be store in the 'energy storage', it can use to generate desk light where we usually use. This idea can be use for something different, such as merry-go-round. Where kids love to play on playground. This can produce much more electricity and it can light up something more big than desk light.

Jonny Cohen, brains behind 'GreenShields'tag:www.urgentevoke.com,2013-01-24:4871302:BlogPost:2487832013-01-24T15:05:01.000ZHo Jun Konghttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/HoJunKong389

Jonny Cohen has invented a project named 'GreenShields'. He found a way to save schools money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by increasing school bus fuel efficiency, on the way to home from school when he was 12 years old. This idea popped into his head when he was having summer classes, based on aerodynamics at Northwestern University. His first idea was trying to reduce drag and allow the vehicle to use less fuel by attaching a streamlined, transparent Plexiglas cover over a school bus windshield. Afterwards. He created a team with the name of 'GreenShields' and has competed for a $25,000 Pepsi Refresh Grant in February 2010, and they won the grant. GreenShield featured on Good Morning America, in an MTV commercial and a national Pepsi commercial. Luckily, the owner of Cook-Illinois Bus company, Mr. John Benish saw the interview and contacted GreenShields to donate a bus. Jonny also contacted Northwestern University to help with the testing and they responded to it.

From the help of Northwestern University they came up with different design than previous design. The fourth-generation GreenShield, which looks radically different, this idea came out collaboratively with help from Northwestern University's Segal Design Institute. They didn't use idea of a shield, but something that can reduce material and installation costs. Something like a ski-jump-shaped hat installed on the roof of a bus. By having a green shield on top of the bus it reduces the amount of fuel that bus uses and also it reduces the amount of CO2. It is very efficient. Now they are hoping to spread this awareness about environmental problem and willing to reduce the amount of gas that is produced by school buses.
Food security and food security problem around metag:www.urgentevoke.com,2013-01-20:4871302:BlogPost:2483982013-01-20T09:56:24.000ZHo Jun Konghttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/HoJunKong389

Food security is built on three principles. First, food availability, where sufficient quantities of food available on a consisten basis. Second, food access, having sufficient resources to obtain appropriate foods for a nutritious diet. Last, food use, appropriate use based on knowledge of basic nutrition and care, as well as adequate water and sanitation.

So, is Indonesia suffering this issue? where they can't access to food? well, yes, but not all parts of Indonesia are having food security problem where they can't access to food. However, it is still a big problem, it still takes a big part of it.

"Approximately 25 million people are food insecure, particularly households engaged in food and cash crop subsistence farming and agricultural wage labor. The majority of them live in the east of the country, where 40 per cent of the population live below the national poverty line, above the 13 per cent national average. Despite stable paddy production, the price of rice is one of the highest in the South East Asia region, with a continued upward trend. In July 2012, rice cost 12 per cent more than the same time last year, while real wages for agricultural labor decreased by two per cent.

Although the Ministry of Agriculture is optimistic and estimates rice production in 2012 to increase by 4.31% from last year, rainfall deficits are reported. Due to the drought situation in the US, the price of imported soybean increased nearly twofold in July. Soybean products are important commodity especially for low income people. Indonesia consumes 2.2 million tons of soybeans per year while the country produces 700,000 tons. As a result, the Government of Indonesia has decided to suspent the five per cent of import tax on soybeans." (World Food Programme)

October 2012

I don't really see food security problem near by me from people that I know. However, I do know that there are problems in some parts of Indonesia where I don't really know that place, maybe it can be near by me or places in Jakarta.

Indonesia government is setting up a plan to set the country a goal of being self-sufficient in rice, beef, sugar, corn, and soybeans by 2014 and it is 2013 now. Here's more information about it. Eating healthy and safe food is important in order to keep our health in best condition and not getting sick.

I might be a vegetarian that time because there are no more space for cattle to run around and be raise in organic healthy way. So, I have prepared this food by growing my own vegetables on my house garden. It's just a basic salad with lettuce, potato, apple, and corn. It taste not so bad because of the seasoning on it.
Organic gardening in schooltag:www.urgentevoke.com,2013-01-19:4871302:BlogPost:2482422013-01-19T06:00:00.000ZHo Jun Konghttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/HoJunKong389

There are only middle school students who are doing this activity yet it will be better if theres an organic gardening for high school students as well.
Favourite awe-inspiring projecttag:www.urgentevoke.com,2013-01-19:4871302:BlogPost:2484872013-01-19T04:00:00.000ZHo Jun Konghttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/HoJunKong389

My favourite awe-inspiring water project is by water1st.org. They have three main problems to be solve. First solution that they are willing to solve is to find a permanent solution to build a basic low cost water systems and toilet, because the project failure rate for water project is estimated to be as high as 50%. It is not simple as we think because of the local conditions and situations. ("Water1st.org")

Second problem that they want to solve is to reduce the amount of time that is spent by collecting water by woman and children. They walk up to 5 hours a day to collect water. It is too much waste of time just to get few gallons of water. If it is possible to reduce the time of collecting water woman and children can do other things in that time. Children can go to school and woman can start a small business. They also need more water then they collect a day because of water related diseases. They should be able to wash their hand to stay in clean condition, access to more water to use in bathing, cooking, washing clothes and more. ("Water1st.org")

Third problem that they are finding for a solution is 'Water Integrated with Toilets and Hygiene Education'. This organization 'Water 1st' is integrating with water, toilets and hygiene education. This is one of the most important thing because our health depends on the quality of water that we use. We should use clean water anytime even tough it's for toilets. Water, toilets, and health are really important. Bad sanitation of toilet can cause lots of water related diseases because of the germs and bacterias. Drinking safe water will prevent from diarrheal disease and death. Drinking and using safe, clean water is very important. ("Water1st.org")

Children are young they have full of imagination they like to try new things they are full of curiosity.
Therefore they don't really have fixed ideas of this world or way to solve a problem they might have different perspectives with others and they also imagine over the fixed idea and try new things in their own way. However, there are very little possibility to get problem solve by the children, because they should have basic knowledge of the problem to solve it so they understand about it. On the other hand, I also think that this could change the world from that low possibility and find the solution among that children.
