I liked the idea of Evoke a lot but there are a few changes that I would suggest:

Evoke should be more international: haveing people from all over the world tackeling the worlds problems may result in many different views on a certain problem. People from Africa would probably see an african problem a lot different then people from germany do

Evoke should be more international: haveing people from all over the world tackeling the worlds problems may result in many different views on a certain problem. People from Africa would probably see an african problem a lot different then people from germany do

Evoke should be more individual: I don't feel like haveing every agent tackeling the same problems is the best way to get good ideas. People and agents come with different abilities, strengths and interests. Evoke should gather this individual data and make the agents tackle those problems that they are interested in and have a good chance to come up with a great solution.

Evoke should be much more individual: I think it should also be able to come up with your own missions that other evoke agents can tackle. Somebody in a far country might have a big problem that nobody has ever heard about. Bringing this up on the evoke network could lead to some good sugestions

Evoke should be more popular: Step out of the shadows and show your best solutions to the worlds biggest problems. What does the best idea in the world help if no one knows about it?

Other than that I belive Evoke is working pretty well!
Evoke Manifestotag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-06-27:4871302:BlogPost:2359532012-06-27T16:58:59.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche

As an Evoke agent you have special powers like knowledge, local insight or vision. As you create more and more solutions for global problems you gain more and more powers and so become a very unique hero. To every problem there will be tons of different solutions written by different Evoke agents. The essence of all those solutions is very likely to be a great idea. That's why Evoke is so powerful. Imagine getting all the worlds expertise in solving problems together you'll be able to tackle pretty much every problem. And that's also why Evoke needs everybody to be an Evoke agent! So get your friends together and start changing the world now!
risk = hazard + outragetag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-06-25:4871302:BlogPost:2357392012-06-25T13:32:30.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche

I chose the Covering Risk secret. In this article Peter Sandman writes about risks and how people see them. He splits up risk into hazard and outrage and explains what he means by this. Outrange basicly is the peoples reaction. It describes how upset or affraid they get about a certain risk. Outrange basicly is the peoples reaction. It describes how upset or affraid they get about a certain risk. Hazard on the other side is the actual scientific risk to kill or hurt people or the environment. I think that it does make total sense to make this distinction. Especially during crisis people tend to believe everything they hear. Normaly they would probably allways try to find ways to clarify new information with other sources. But during a crises people seem to just believe everything right away. This leads to very untrue rumors or total overreaction. Peter Sandman explains how information should be spread around if too much outrange occurs. People need to calm down. He also points out ways to spread informations in situations where the actual hazard is much higher than the outrange. These situations need to be handled very carefully, because theres a big risk comeing up which people don't know about yet. They need to be informed without producing panic or too much outrange. Crises communication can be very difficould and should be handled with care.
2086tag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-06-18:4871302:BlogPost:2346442012-06-18T15:14:04.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche

Helping people that aren't a fortunate as we are in the western civilization brings joy and it helps them to enjoy their lifes. But there are also many things to do around here to help people to have a better live and to freely enjoy their time on earth. By the way with enjoing your time I don't mean sitting around all day, hanging out and just doing nothing! That doesn't help anyone and it's not going to be an enjoyable time after a while. I mean just do what you like and what suites you, but get up and do it!
Coastal Zone Management at Kung Krabaen Bay, Eastern Thailandtag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-06-18:4871302:BlogPost:2346102012-06-18T09:30:00.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche

Since 1981 the Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center tries to find ways to help the people who life there and to save the precious nature at the same time. Mangrove forests are naturaly rare because they only exist in areas that provide the correct conditions. The main thing they did to protect the forests is to give the fishers and farmers certain areas where they can freely fish and farm, while haveing other areas only for mangrove afforestation. All the farmers and fishers that live and work there have to participate in the mangrove afforestation. Confincing the people that live there to do this important work was also one of the main and most hardest things to do for the study center.
Today when you visit the kung krabaen bay area, you might see Rhizophora tree saplings planted in straight lines. Rhizophora is one of the pioneer plant species in this ecosystem and as the saplings mature, they help buffer the coastline against erosion and expand the suitable environment for the creatures living in the mangrove forests, which will help the farmers and fishers in getting a better harvest in the future.
The magrove forests also draw tourists. The additional money they can earn from tourism is another motivating factor for locals to help preserve the forests.
Ushahidi - urgent information in atag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-06-11:4871302:BlogPost:2332822012-06-11T10:42:16.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche

There are several possible crises that could happen in Germany. To get an image of what could happen you can just look back a few years. There was the elbe flood. With Ushahidi the people that were looking for help could have easily postet their location online and it would have been a piece of cake to rescue them. Also we've had the swine flu in germany just a couple years ago. In a crises like this people could get informed about the latest spreads of the pandemic and where to get a vaccination.
Right now we're fancing a another financial crisis in europe:

http://www.spiegel.de/international/topic/euro_crisis/

In a crisis like this people could use Ushahidi to report how the financial crisis of a country effect the simple people of this country. Politicans sometimes seem to forget about them and try to get themselfs in a good light during a crisis.

Those are all possible scenarios where something like Ushahidi can really help in the future. I'm really that this is an amazing project, because again it shows that new technology and media can help humanity not only in casual needs!
to educate a girltag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-06-03:4871302:BlogPost:2321852012-06-03T15:30:00.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche

It's about two filmmakers who traveled to Nepal and Uganda in 2010 to find the answer to one question: What does it take to educate a girl? In 2000, 110 million children in the world were not in school and two thirds of them were girls. I looked up the film and found some great information about it, including some stills from the movie:

In the movie the filmmakes meet some girls and find out how they manage to stay in school. Many girls in countries like Nepal and Uganda have to deal with Early marriage, child labor, pregnancy, lack of access or violence. They still have to find a way to study.
The Movie has been screened on many festivals and featured in many more articles. For example the article that Caty Borum Chattoo wrote for the huffington post:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/caty-borum-chattoo/what-does-it-take-to-educ_b_882099.html

you can even watch big parts of the Movie there!

Projects like this really inspires me. Since I'm studying media sciences it shows me that media does have the power to change the world and there are good things that can be done with it.
Touch&Traveltag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-05-27:4871302:BlogPost:2314662012-05-27T22:09:50.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche

After that you can check in useing your cellphone at the railroad station where you want to take off. When u arrived at your final destination you just check out in the same way useing your cellphone. After that you automaticaly pay for your travel. I belive that these types of paying will and should become more and more popular. It just is very conviniend, simple and cheap to just take what you want and then pay as you go. Paying could become a process that happens absolutely unrecogniseable in the background.
WaterAid Cracker Challengetag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-05-21:4871302:BlogPost:2305272012-05-21T14:00:00.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche

Eating 6 salty crackers within one minute drys your mouth so much, that one can easily experience how it is to live without water. The dryness in your mouth is so intense, that you can totally understand that people prefer to drink dirty water instead of nothing. It also shows how urgent this problem really is, because after eating those crackers you wouldn't want to wait a secound to get some freash and clean water.

This also shows how new media and technology like the internet can easily help to make social innovations and to get people to think about a very urgent problem in our world.
Take me to the farthest shoretag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-05-14:4871302:BlogPost:2293442012-05-14T09:12:43.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche

People in very different situations and for many different reasons can definitely have to less money to afford food. Even in a country like germany. Thats why there are organisations like "Die Tafel". They live completely from money and especialy food donations. Restaurants and supermarkets can donate food that is still good to eat but they can't sell anymore for different reasons. "Die Tafel" is taking care that this donated food is going towards the people that couldn't afford it at the markets. "Die Tafel" itself lives from money donations by almost everybody. Lately people can even donate their pledge money they would get from empty drinking bottles at certain machines to "Die Tafel". I found a picture of that:

It simply helps them to become more independent of others instead of just needing help again and again when they are provided with the plain solutions. The skill of how to solve a problem by yourself is a lot more worth than the plain solution. Furthermore learning skills to gain solutions increases the skill of learning something on its own. This is an important skill for countries with very little education. They can improve the skills and technologies they allready have to solve other problems completely on their own without even needing to learn how from others, just by being better educated.
Ben Rattraytag:www.urgentevoke.com,2012-04-30:4871302:BlogPost:2265242012-04-30T07:58:40.000ZSven Fritzschehttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/SvenFritzsche
