I chose Derek Lomas from the Playpower Foundation as the social innovator that I would like to follow. I think the idea of providing low-cost gaming technology to underfunded communities is a great idea. Some people feel that video games destroy childhood, but I think if used properly, it can be used as a great educational tool. After all, that's how my younger brother learned to read at the age of 3. Derek seems to think along the same lines as I do, and I think his ideas are very…

After all, that's how my younger brother learned to read at the age of 3. Derek seems to think along the same lines as I do, and I think his ideas are very powerful.

I am now following him on Twitter, and I sent him a message through Twitter to introduce myself, and to let him know that I'm shadowing him. He hasn't used Twitter in awhile, though, since his last post proclaimed that he is a new father! Reality smacks us in the face, and we become jaded, distrustful, skeptical individuals who become so wrapped up in the little problems that we just KNOW that there can be nothing done for the bigger ones.

I hope that thinking like a child will help me through this, as I'll be able to tap into my creativity and think of things nobody else has thought of. Believe in the power of positive thinking. Anything IS possible.
