The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.

Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid boat he bought in the spring. I told him he didn't need to buy it, but he was so excited about the technology and the fact that the boat didn't even have a gasoline option. It was a beautiful day and the sun powered our tubing and waterskiing all day long!

Mom added on some finishing touches to make it feel like a true shower, and everyone is clamoring to use it. The lake water itself turns the turbines for the water pump that feeds clean water to bathe in through the spigot.

I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vaccum sealded for easy transportation and are mostly made locally as to reduce food-miles. I take the eggs and cheese and decide to make an omellette. As i take each on from the fridge, a robotic voice states the name of the item i have chosen and the details including calories and ingredients.
I make the omellete and sit down to eat it. It tastes a bit dry, but at least it was slightly better than the antipov food i tried once. Antipov is a food company that creates astronaut like meals and distributes them globally to deprived areas such as Kenya and Ethiopia. The idea is to reduce food poverty as much as they can. Their food does not taste so bad but it offers a lot of iron, calcium and various other things to keep people alive.

I finish my omellete and hed upstairs to bed.
Futuretag:www.urgentevoke.com,2020-01-01:4871302:BlogPost:1875032020-01-01T00:00:00.000ZKevinhttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/Kevin954

Listening to the right people also leads to understanding the circumstances of the problem: what other social, cultural or political elements contribute to this problem? What has already been tried? Who does this problem impact the most? Who does it impact the least and how can we get them involved? Sometimes the people that live a problem everyday are too engulfed in the issue to think of a new solution. On the other hand, someone with a fresh pair of eyes might inspire innovation.
Act1tag:www.urgentevoke.com,2016-01-13:4871302:BlogPost:3119722016-01-13T14:53:35.000ZNamwaka Mootohttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/NamwakaMooto

What is so unique about BongoHive is that it is actually Zambia's first innovation and technology hub. It is a platform that hosts brilliants minds that come together to share ideas and through the use of technology for development. The whole idea was to create an entrepreneurship hub where youths can go to unleashing their untapped potential whilst making a difference. This has been done through the creation of software applications (Apps) and gadgets among other things that have been able to assist in the areas of agriculture, health, economy, social and political arenas. It was very difficult for me to pick a particular story as they are a lot of inspiring stories from this group so I decided to instead share their platform with you all. For a long time there have only been 3 options for prolonged or obstructed deliveries - c-section, forceps or vacuum delivery. All require a lot of training and/expensive equipment that is not easily accessible for many women and their birth attendants.

Jorge Odon - a car mechanic - has invented a new device called the Odon Device for helping woman in labour. It is currently in trial with the WGO organisation and will be used in the developing world as it will save lives of both babies and mothers at the cost of $50 for the disposable device.

Odon was inspired in a dream and by a party trick of getting a cork out of a bottle! Not very dignified beginnings, but the outcome cannot be argued with!

This innovator interested me as I have been part of the midwifery community for a number of years and worked with midwives going overseas to train local midwives. They reported that it was all very well to train the local midwives, but they is not have the resources such as c-section facilities or forceps or vacuum extraction qualified obstetricians to perform interventions. With the Odon Device, the ability to successfully intervene in labours will be i the hands of the birth attendants without the need for expensive equipment and years of training.

Jorge Oden does not use twitter or blog. However, the research project has a great website for upates and information.

This is particularly relevant to 1st World Society today considering we are living more and more out of what we don't have, relying on lines of credit and living beyond our means. We are looking to add to societies rather than using what is there in an innovative way. In fact, the same can be said of our own lives - first we need to make sure that we are living out this principal ourselves before we can even imagine being an innovator in others areas.
Women by 2020tag:www.urgentevoke.com,2015-05-02:4871302:BlogPost:3078932015-05-02T10:02:43.000ZRico Angel Rodriguezhttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/RicoAngelRodriguez

Though I haven't gotten around to completing this objective I'm sure that once I explain it to my family they will have no problem contributing. I believe they would most likely contribute to something with women's education as my grandmother was the first woman in our family to pursue an education and it wasn't until her late late 50's when she had raised all of her kids.

When I'm 100 years old my indigenous knowledge I would pass on is only lead people into not only what you can do, but what you will do with them. Telling people to do something can be done by anyone with a voice. But really leading people through something being with them in the hard times and the good, is when people truly learn and follow someone. So whether is being a leader militarily, being a school teacher, or even a coach lead those you are trusted with through what needs to be…

The best way for emergency communication in an urban environment can be tricky because not all urban areas are as developed as others. So you would want to build in a multi-tiered system that would broadcast emergency information, via television, radio, and cellular device if applicable. All public areas should be equipped with these devices to help communicate what could vital life saving information during a time of crisis in a hectic urban environment.

This is a pretty significant step for women's rights. China has had a pretty harsh history in regards to how women have been treated in rural China and very strict political limitations in general. Seeing a development like this would be unimaginable when I was growing up in the 1990's. This is a very larger population that had been kept in the dark politically speaking that is finally found a voice.…

The future of money needs to be accessible to everyone, so the UN and the World Bank should put forth a joint effort in making more, and better reach local currency exchanges that bring people and their resources closer together than ever before. To setup regional charters that help the flow of currency from nation to another so not only large aide from government to government could be applied but one community in nation A could send money to a community in nation B.

Ten years from now I will be in a political job assisting with people in the midlands of South Carolina particularly the rural working class and farmers. As the class of people that feed the nation I find that it is imperative that we assist with making sure they produce as much food as possible. I would like to support local scientists as well that are leading in research on how to produce food more efficiently. Hopefully the little I do will be enough to help someone.
Imagine Charlestontag:www.urgentevoke.com,2015-04-29:4871302:BlogPost:3080652015-04-29T01:24:47.000ZJeffrey Smerigliohttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/JeffreySmeriglio

Imagine Charleston in 2020. The city is going to be much larger than it is today. The amount of people moving here is stunning. Year after year more people are drawn here. This is great for the economy and adds strain in the chance of natural disasters. In the year 2020 I am imagining that Charleston will have in the works a mass transit system to move people in and out of the city faster than today. In the year 2020 I am imagining that Charleston will have in the works a mass transit system to move people in and out of the city faster than today. This is what I see for Charleston in 2020.
Resiliencetag:www.urgentevoke.com,2015-04-29:4871302:BlogPost:3079762015-04-29T01:21:35.000ZJeffrey Smerigliohttp://www.urgentevoke.com/profile/JeffreySmeriglio

The area in which our city is located calls for resilience in regards to hurricanes. Mother nature has hit us before and the city needs the resilience to be able to withstand it again. By creating extra shelters as well as informing many of the evacuation routes that are posted throughout the city we have been adding to the effectiveness. The issue this city has is the population of homeless, the city needs to create a system to get them out of the area as well.

With the world the way it is and globalization increasing so is our interconnectivity. I feel that social media has now become the best way to reach a wide scale audience in regards to making positive changes. Take the ice bucket challenge of last year. This has also been used against war criminals to show what actually is taking place. This helps the world as a whole see the truth behind what is going on.
