Imagine- Power Shift

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, and 2020 is no different. Luckily, Halloween decorations do not require a lot of energy and power. Though, I still want to be energy-efficient. I made my own decorations from recycled materials and all light-decorations have energy-efficient bulbs.

Imagine- Food Securituy

It is 2020 and I am just settling down, ready to eat dinner. I am at the apartment I share with my fiance, washing a head of lettuce under the sink. Tonight, we are having a loaded salad dinner. Lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese, walnuts and slices of grilled chicken breast to top it off. I am excited for this dinner, because all of the ingredients came from a local farmer's market. My fiance and I know the importance of eating well- I just like to occasionally throw in the "eat…

Social Innovation- Learn

My favorite secret stated that "what you have matters more than what you lack." In society today it is so easy to fall into a materialistic mindset by always wanting the newest products or by feeling that your current products do not allow you to reach your goals. It is important to focus on utilizing what you do have in a unique way so you can become a social innovator. #LEARN1

Social Innovation- Act

The person I am shadowing is Timothy Keller and he is a pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York. In addition to speaking at his congregation, Keller has authored several books and uploads Podcasts of his sermons to the internet. I began following him on Facebook, have purchased one of his books, and listen to his Podcasts. I chose to follow him because he is a very inspirational speaker that gives me a new perspective on the bible and how I can apply those teachings to my everyday…

Social Innovation IMAGINE1

In 2020, I hope to have finished law school and passed my bar exam. I will be looking to get a job at a prestigious law firm in my hometown while also making a difference in the community. I will also still be pursuing my hobbies of horseback riding and wake surfing competitively. I will probably have married a great guy and be looking to start a family. When I am called, I will try my hardest to make a difference in Tokyo.

Favorite Social Innovation Tip

My favorite tip was:

Understand by observing the environment, infrastructure, culture and lives of people by being there.

I think this concept can not be underestimated when it comes to creating real and lasting change. When trying to brainstorm ideas for constructing solutions, you must be culturally aware and culturally SENSITIVE. Who the ideas come from and how they are phrased can make the difference in their effectiveness. Sometimes a solution that will work in America for…

Stay Positive

My favorite innovative secret is to stay positive. You need to always keep a positive attitude and not listen to people trying to bring you down. Believing in yourself and keeping your head up will help you to be the best that you can be.

Social Innovation

My favorite tip about social innovation is "go to where the action is." I think this is a key element of real social innovation. Donating money and resources from afar is great, but it will only provide temporary relief. If we want to truly be effective agents of change, we need to physically go to where the problems are and work to fix them. Often, I think people stay away from where social problems are actually occurring because they don't want to leave their comfort zones. But the reality…

Social Innovation ACT1

I chose to follow Boyan Slat on Twitter. He is a 19-year-old student at Delft University of Technology who developed plans create an Ocean Cleanup Array that could remove 7,250,000 tons of plastic waste from the world’s oceans. He also founded "The Ocean Cleanup Foundation, a non-profit organization which is responsible for the development of his proposed technologies. His ingenious solution could potentially save hundreds of thousands of aquatic animals annually, and reduce pollutants…

Water Run 2020!

For the World Water Day event, I would help plan a world wide 5K race to raise awareness of water and sanitation issues as well as raise money to help fund resolving these issues. On WWD, 5K Runs will be held in multiple locations in every state, country and nation. These runs will be located near significant water sources (both clean and un-clean) such as The Great Lakes, Gamtoos River, Nile River, Amazon River, Dingle Bay, Serpentine Lake, Niagara Falls, etc. There will be an entry fee of…

Where I'll be in 10 Years

10 years from now, I'll be working in a start-up business as a key leader in the organization. I hope I'll be in a position to have the right resources to help out when Alchemy calls me to help with the Tokyo food crisis. Hopefully I'll have the contacts to be able to make a big difference.

Act- Social Innovation

I am following The Cove/Oceanic Preservation Society on Twitter. While this is not a singular hero, I chose to shadow these organizations because of their work. Together, they work to preserve and protect our oceans and the creatures that inhabit them. The Cove/OPS has made great strides in awareness and activism concerning marine animals. By following their Twitter account, I am constantly kept up to date on current events (dangers and victories) regarding oceans and ocean life.

Social Innovation LEARN1

I loved the tip "talk to the people who have the problem – and LISTEN to what they have to say". I believe that it is easy to say that you spoke with someone but actually listening to what he/she has to say and taking what is said to heart is much more difficult. Listening to other's experiences and ideas may spark ideas and innovative thinking within oneself. #LEARN1

Derek Lomas

I chose Derek Lomas because I've always been interested in innovating education. I believe that education, as a wh***, can be drastically improved. By allowing underprivileged children a chance to learn through innovative technology, Lomas has gotten my attention and I am interested in his work. I've decided to follow him on Twitter.

Thinking Like a Child - Learn1

I really love the #5 that reads "think like a child because children have no limit to their thinking". Our imaginations are much more useful that we often realize and it sometimes seems very "cliche" to say that if you can dream it, you can do it, but in reality we need to accept that our goals and dreams need to be big in order to make real social changes that are lasting and can impact great numbers of people! I am going to look at problems differently from here on out and try to think…

Listen to the Right People

I think that the most important secret on this list is to listen to the right people. Nothing helps you succeed more in life than surrounding yourself with the right people. With the right influences in your life, anything is possible! It also works the other way. If someone surrounds themselves with the wrong people, even if that person has a lot of potential, that person is still putting themselves in a negative environment.

Learn- Social Innovation

I reall like tip #5 "think like a child – children have no limit to their thinking." As we get older, we create limitations to ourselves and our imagination. Sometimes, the key to innovation is breaking down these mental barriers and stepping out of the box.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
