Ten Years From Now - IMAGINE1

Imagine your best-case scenario future. Where will you be living in 2020? What will you do with your days? How are you changing the world on a daily basis?

Imagine yourself exactly ten years from today

Tell a story about where you are, and what you're doing, when Alchemy calls YOU to help with the Tokyo food cries

In my best-case scenario in 9 years (2020) I will be living in New York City and will be working for the New York Knicks as their Public Relations manager. With… Continue

Shadowing - ACT1

I chose to shadow Sushmita Ghosh of Ashoka - Innovators for the Public. The reason I chose her is because I like the fact that she's a former news journalist. I also like the fact that she founded a separate entity outside of Ashoka which is the Changemakers to innovate and collaborate. You can actually follow what Sushmita is doing on the Changemakers website under her profile. There are also many seminars and videos of her speaking online as well.

Act

I've chosen to follow Paula Kahumbu who is the executive director at wild life direct. I have chosen to shadow this hero because her work is something that I believe in and want to be a part of it in some way. I feel conserving our habitats and protecting wildlife is something we have to do as people on this planet. For too long have these animals and habitats been poached and taken advantage of and organizations like this will be able to put the resources and technologies in place to help… Continue

Secret: Provide skills, not just finished technologies.

I feel this is the most important secret because we can give countries all the technology in the world for dealing with food shortages and other medical problems, but if they don't know how to use it then their never going to be successful. More resources need to go into training people how to use these advanced technologies and teach them on older technologies that can be enhanced and better utilized for the country. A lot of… Continue

Happy Water Day Flashmob

Although it might be not that surprising, due to organisational obstacles, my proposal for celebrating Happy Water Day would be: Organize flashmobs all over the world.

These flashmobs just have one task, drink one glass of water with the person standing next to you. Without much words, maybe a slogan like 'Need some water? You're not the only one"' printed on cups or shirts is sufficient.

It sounds simple but I think if a lot of people around are invited for a…

Cleaning water by using eggshell

The water crisis is not only about the scarcity of water, it is also a problem of cleanness. A problem that can even affect people in richer regions of the world. One of the biggest challenges is the pollution because of heavy metals that cause health and environmental damages. There are still methods against it, but they are expensive and complex.

Energy

Human now suffer from a serious energy problem; we are going to run out of petroleum. Since petroleum will become a kind of rare energy, the price of it will rise quickly. To own the petroleum, countries would even start a fight. Luckily, a country created a new energy which is a mixture of alcohol and sucrose. This creation can replace gasoline that powered our cars. It is truly a great creation.

Human beings have unimaginable aptitude to overcome harsh circ**stances. We may create a new… Continue

ACT4

I am a supporter of Vestergaard Frandsen. He has different projects to improve the quality of life for poor people by inventing life-saving products. Fighting against deseases caused by water pollution and infected animals are in his main focus.(http://www.vestergaard-frandsen.com/) Especially his water project I described in Learn4 impressed me and I want to seize the chance to spread his ideas. Furthermore I want to point at the problem of… Continue

genetic food

In 2020 I will live in a own house on a lake. The fridge is computer-controlled and the food is delivered by a supermarket-service. The food stems from a gene farm, where genetic modified food is produced. The advantage of this food is, that all nutrients I need and more are contained, because of the genetic manipulation. This food has been produced under energy-efficient conditions. But in my oppinion the best advantage is the modified delicious taste. On this evening I will eat with my wife… Continue

fogquest

When I searched for water projects I found a very interesting organization which is called FogQuest www.fogquest.org. It is a Canadian organization which is not government controlled. It is specialized in collecting water from fog. Therefore they built fog collectors in regions with suitable meteorological conditions, e.g. Chile, Guatemala and Ethiopia. These collectors consist of a big plastic mesh, where fog condenses and the obtained… Continue

I picked a water project of Vestergaard Frandsen called Life Straw. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFC5p6FALl4&feature=related) People from developing countries are enabled to drink surface water through this straw without getting any diseases. The Life Straw is made of resin and kills the bacteria when the water gets in contact with the material. It is reusable and also very cheap to purchase. This project does… Continue

Electricity

If we run out of energy in the future, what should we do? I think we should try to find some ways out.

Imagine the world in the future without oil, coal, gas, and so on. How could people live without them? So, we need to find some new ways to produce energy. People do not drive cars to work; they walk or ride a bicycle instead. Maybe people just ride on cattle just like our ancestors. All the people grow food on…

Waterschool - Learn to disinfect water

The project I choose is called waterschool. Their aim is to make sure that countries which are located near the equator can be supplied with clean and healthy water in a sustainable way. For that the program distributes PET bottles which after standing in the sun for one day will clear the water inside from all potentially infectious micro-organisms. This way to disinfect water is called SODIS (Solar Disinfection). In addition to that the program also teaches how to keep the high health and… Continue

Pure water and less CO2

The main problem is to provide safe and clear water. Most people have only access for contaminated water, that contains microorganisms causing waterbourn diseases.

I want to introduce Solvatten, which invented a canister to solve this problem. It makes use of filtration, heat pasteurisation and UV-disinfection. Those techniques are not new and there are many other projects that try to solve the problem that way. But Solvatten… Continue

Act 4 - Water crisis

Environmental education provides a responsible approach to environment and natural resources. How polluted water is purified? How does a solar car wok? How to make new paper from old paper again? All this explains the teaching staff of BS|ENERGY. The visit of the environmental expert is a free service provided by BS|ENERGY for schools and kindergarten in Brunswick and the region.

In sense of enviromental awareness I contacted following schools by email with a short writting to inform the… Continue

Imagine 4 - Water crisis

It's March 24, 2020. The world is about to see one of the biggest festivals called "Waterstock" (according to Woodstock) to tackle to problem of water crisis.

Water became the most precious resource of the world. After the breakthrough in 2015 for hydrogen vehicles it replaced oil as an essential resource. The leading technology drove the world to the biggest challenge of… Continue

Energy

All of us feel very scared as typhoon come because they usually cause a lot of damage. There will be flooding, landslides, and the price of vegetable will rise. What’s worse is a town vanished when a typhoon came last year. Although we can’t stop typhoons from hitting Taiwan, we can do something to reduce damages. Planting more trees is a good tip. If there were more trees in the area, there will be fewer landslides. We have cut down too many trees, so mountains have been weak and can be… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
