A crash course in changing the world.
My personal social hero to shadow is Dieter Hagmann.
He is actively fighting against dolphin catching and killing in Taiji in Japan. It may be not that kind of social hero that helps people, but I think dolphins (or in general every animal) is even more lost without human help, because they can't speak for themselves.
I chose him because I'm totally against the keeping or killing of dolphins and many other animals. The doplhin hunt in Taiji is more brutal than anyone can…

Design in Africa.
I have looked all topics and tips over Innovation about solving global problems in Africa
Africa has many different problems:
There is, for example, the problem that many people have to drink dirty water because they have no money to pay for clean water. Through the mud in the water many of them are sick.
Another problem is the hunger.
Many people in Africa are starving because they can not irrigate their crops dry up and this fact. Even…

My favourite secret is "Listen to the right people. " From Amy Smith on rules for design in the developing world.
First of all is "Listen! ". When you want to create the solution, you must to know what the real problem is. So you must "talk to the people who have the problem – and LISTEN to what they have to say. " Just like what Paul Polak said.
And second is "to the right people! ". Each person has their own opinion. So you must listen to a lots of people and find the right…

My favorite post is the one that's called: " What you have matters more than what you lack ".
If you look at this in a way that it was meant to be you understand that you should be thankful for what you got and don't try to find excuses in the things you don't have.
It is very typical for humankinds to look for excuses or the solutions or even problems they can't solve by looking at what you don't have. Like if you have a time machine I would know how to fight poverty. But the fact…

"Share knowledge and skills to continue the innovative process both to and from people and communities"
This is my favorite secret because everyone has different skills and experience. When people work in teams they are more productive then when they work individually because the teammates complement each other, they work as a unit, pushing each other when needed, providing sustainment and assisting in each other's development.

My favorite secret is:
"Peripheral vision - keep a look out for other challenges or new solutions all the time.".
In my opinion this is one of the best ways to find new solutions for other problems you don't even know about when you start searching.
While focused on finding a solution or collecting ideas for one special challenge you often also have ideas or a new approach for totally different problems.
Many great innovations have been discovered only by chance and…

First of all, I think it is pretty difficult or even impossible to choose one secret as the solution for the improvement of social innovation. The problem is a lot too big and too complex to be solved by just one (even if great) idea or concept.
However, I picked four of the secrets as my favorites:
1) "What you have matters more than what you lack" by Ethan Zuckerman -
That was one of my favorite statements from the first time I read it. The essence is…

My favorite secret is :
Share knowledge and skills to continue the innovative process both to and from people and communities by Paul Polak.
I think this secret/rule describes very well the capability of social innovators.Humans are limited in their skills and knowledge and therefore it is impossible for them to effect something alone. However social innovators share their knowledge and skills in order to solve a problem or to swap ideas for a solution. Besides you will…

To be a social innovator there is not really one secret that makes the difference.
For me, first of all it is very important that "Problems are not always obvious from afar". You want to go out there and save the world? Then go out there and see it with your own eyes. Crucial to every successful innovation is that you have to talk to the people, listen to them, and really really go there and live like them. Only then you will find something new they lack of and what could really help…

For me the genital mutilation of girls and women is one of the crime that must be prevented on the African continent. Already in school I was affected by this topic. I informed myself about it and was shocked by the brutal behaviour and the 'medical conditions' of this ritual.
8,000 girls per day are robbed of their genitalia and their dignity. That is one every eleven seconds. 150 million women worldwide are affected.
A man who fights for the rights of this…

For me there are two people I would call a hero. Angelina Jolie and Oprah Winfrey. Just because there are two strong women, I find both very interesting. Both travel and help people in needy countries. This is exactly what makes a hero for me. Helping other people without asking anything in return. To provide assistance without compensation. Such people are the heroes.

My dream is to have a family in ten years and a nice house near my job. To start their own business is my big dream. So I could always work easily from home and I could take care of my family.
Furthermore, I hope for the future that a more equitable distribution exists in the world. There should be more people who stand up for the poor and try to help. The establishment of an organization that cares for people who need help is a good idea, but even if you take part in such an…

My favourite secret is "Economic sustainability" from Paul Polak. Furthermore, I agree with all other secrets, but one that I have outlined my opinion the most practical.
With economic sustainability can as Polak described provide financial motivation for continued growth over time. Empower people by improving their economic or social status. In addition it is a real way to deal with problems as well as a strong economy can solve many financial, and with it other problems,…

All secrets could change the world, each secret do it on his own way. Anyhow the secrets are closely interrelated with each other. As a social innovator, i think foremost we have to understand external circ**stances, in which people find themselves. Therefore it is important for the understanding process to observe the environment, infrastructure, culture and lives of people by being there.
The best solutions are of no use if they are not accepted by the people, living in such…

On 26.04.2022 hopefully I’m working in an innovative and social oriented company and invent technologies which are prepared to help the people and don’t replace them. If I should describe this normal Tuesday, I hope I don’t have to wake up very early and have a nice breakfast with my family. The day should not start that fast, then I go to work and operate with a creative and friendly team. And I would like to teach young Engineers and tell them how important the social issues of technical…

On http://www.afrigadget.com I found a very interesting story from Paula Kahumbu about a 13 year old boy – Richard Turere. I have chosen Richard Turere, because he has solved such a big problem with a quit simple solution. He saves the cattle from the lions with light. He created a solution for his immediate requirements which is peaceful, cheap and easy.
I tried to contact him by sending a message to the author Paula Kahumbu on facebook. I don’t…

Above all I think all of the 33 secrets are good and in his own way right.
But one of them I like most: The secret “think like a child – children have no limit to their thinking”. And not only because they are not limited in their thinking, furthermore because they are following only their intuition and they don`t do things they don’t want to just because of others and they have no reason in their acting for doing bad things to others. They don’t think about what other people would say.…

I live in Germany. In Germany there is more and more "poverty". But in most cases we just dealing with relative poverty. In comparison to other countries, nobody has to get along with one dollar or less! Poor people in my country usually can satisfy their basic needs but lots of them suffer from imbalances in social exclusion. Who actually has no work is entitled to social assistance, unless he is illegal in Germany. Social assistance is a controversial topic in Germany but it helps a lot of…

As many others allready said I also belive that all of the secrets are good and right. But one secret that pops out for me is to provide skills and not just finished technologies. I think this is a great example of how to help third world countries. It simply helps them to become more independent of others instead of just needing help again and again when they are provided with the plain solutions. The skill of how to solve a problem by yourself is a lot more worth than the plain solution.…
