ACT2

Today, my husband and I decided to build our own 12'x8' herb and vegetable garden. Our plan is to supply not only ourselves with fresh produce but to share with our friends, family and community. Also, my husband is a pro fisherman who goes fishing 2-3 times per week. Normally, when he catches fish, he always gives at least half of his catch to families struggling to catch their own fish at the boat ramps.

Tidal Power Plants most suitable areas

If you look at the map(thanks Los Alamos National Lab) there are clear areas with strong currents that could be use to harness energy using the Tides.

from my point of view, please correct me if i am wrong, in the same way we have lighthouses on the top of cliffs. we could use this areas close to cliffs that do not have heavy boat or ships traffic to…

While many do not think or even know about food deprovation in their own area, it is always a constant problamatic situation that is often overlooked. It turns out that I live in Kemah, Texas, exactly one block away from the Beach family. They are a family with 12 children, many were adopted and after hurricane Ike, they went almost 2 years without a home, running water and often times food. Luckily, Extreme Makeover Home Edition heard about their story and decided to build a beautiful home…

IMAGINE1

In 10 years, in the year 2020 I imagine a completly different world. The trends of going green for example are already making a hige impact in the world. I think that from the looks of how it is being promoted now, by 10 years from now many ways of life and things we do will have evolved. I picture us to have different types of toilets and many more energy efficient ways of life.

I would choose the PopTech Social Innovation Fellows since they are high potential young leaders with new approaches poised for transformational impact. The fellows work in both the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds, nationally and internationally (as far away as India, South Africa, and Brazil), and are working in organizations that are well positioned for sustainable growth. They are the world-changers of tomorrow which makes them seen like an incredible organization to me.…

Fighting Malaria in Africa & Social Innovation

The basic points about social innovation make sense, but I wonder how much one can truly do without experiencing the situation first hand. Take "problems are not obvious from afar" for example, I have recently come across Gmin, a student run project in Harvard to distribute insecticide-treated mosquito nets to help fight malaria, killing mosquitoes and prevent bites at the same time. As humans can only get malaria from a infected mosquito and a mosquito can only get malaria from biting an… Continue

Gravel batteries

A team of engineers at Cambridge University in England has created a giant gravel battery that can store energy produced by windmills and solar panels so that energy will still be available even when the wind isn't blowing or the sun isn't shining. The gravel-based battery stores the intermittent energy that is produced and the feeds it back as a consistent and reliable energy source. The system consists of two silos filled with gravel that store the energy that has been converted into argon… Continue

ACT on preventing future spills like the recent awful BP disaster!

Based on a "Crisis Networking" post by sunnydupree on the recent BP Oil Spill, I was searching for "Jackie Savitz" -- a senior scientist noted in the article that sunny shared with us. I was hoping I could get info so we might help…

BANANA BEER PREPARATION ( KWENGA URWAGWA).

This is a picture which I have taken in museum of Rwanda located at Butare, showing the materials used to prepare and making Rwanda’s banana beer, and calabash served to drink. Banana beer is made from

fermentation of mashed bananas and fermented to alcoholic beverage. In the last

years no man could gathered the men without a drink like banana beer, in Rwanda

all conversations of men accompanied by banana…

Act 9 URGENT EVOKE!!! MAJOR OIL SPILL IN GULF OF MEXICO! HELP FOR GULF COAST!

Ironically I missed the explosion of the Oil Rig in the Gulf of Mexico and its resultant oil spill cause I was working on Evoke

April 30, 2010

High winds and choppy seas frustrated efforts to hold back the oil spill seeping into Louisiana's rich fishing grounds

and nesting areas Friday, and the government desperately cast about for

new ideas for dealing with the nation's biggest environmental…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
