I really liked Peter Sandman's articles about risk communication. I have never thought about the correlation between outrage and hazard, that there can be so many people that are frightend but there even is no real danger and that there could also be the situation where there is real danger but no one really cares about.
The most fascinating thing for me is Sandman's suggestion how to deal with this knowledge and the different situations.
That you have to differ between the…

The imaginery type of emergency is an earthquake, centered on the Hayward fault line, at a magnitude of 5.0.
Individuals that should be called to action to assist are as follows:
A****s Damage Control: These should be people who know how to analyze things, know how to figure out what can be done in a certain amount of time. They can be male and female.
Recovery of the injured/deceased: People who do not have weak stomachs and can focus on recovering bodies, no…

Kava Ceremony
The indigenous Tongan people of the South Pacific have a very special ritual called the faikava. This ritual is used mostly for courtship but also as a social gathering. If a Tongan man is looking for a woman who is unmarried and has finished school, he will request to have a faikava ceremony for him and his friends. She may not be a cousin or relative of anyone at the ceremony. A designated person will mash up the kava plant with stones and put the powder into a sack. The…

"When people initially become aware of a risk, they overreact. They have a temporary short-term overreaction. People pause what they're doing, become hyper-vigilant, check out the environment more carefully than they normally would and—this is perhaps the most important characteristic of the adjustment reaction—they take precautions that may be excessive, may be inappropriate, and are certainly premature."
I thought this was interesting. It exactly what happened to my husband I heard a…

SO in the future we could be self reliant with food. Each neighborhood could provide different produce. ANd we could trade with other neighborhoods. I know this is kind of like going back in time instead of forward but I think we should take from the past to make the future better. I will post a picture later of my group of our bartering system.

It would be cool if each person could choose what community they wanted to help. Then by city and possibly start something more local. Local problems for the area they are in might cause them to feel more interested in helping and like thhey ca actually make a difference.

I joined a group of 5 in my class and we decided to do a bartering system. Each person wrote down their skill that they had then we each traded our different skills. I sing so I could sing at someones birthday or event in exchange for them helping me fix my computer.

When i firt read this mission i autiatically started thinking of currencies. Using different currenicies. BUt then after doing some research I saw that a bartering system would work as well. Using a bartering system to trade our different skills is my idea.

I chose the secret about "Managing Panic in Pandemic" by Dori Reissman.
Maybe I chose this, because we currently have a kind of
EHEC pandemic here in germany. So it is easy to follow what is the reaction of news media and the population.
Obviously the media capitalize this to get headlines and medical association warns about panic. As Reissman said we inflationary use the word "panic". It isn't really a panic. The…

Some missions I already have done were realistic but some were not. So my opinion is that if you make Urgent Evoke 2, I wish you would make all missions realistic.

Non-medical communities can help to contain pandemic flu by sharing information. Every town should have an internet plattform where all companies, schools, kindergardens, old people's homes and hospitals are registered. After that, every employee or member of such institutions get codes where they can log in anonymously. If somebody gets the pandemic flu he can just post it on the plattform. He can also add some information, for instance what the symptoms are and what kind of treatment he has…

After reading the 5 secrets of crisis communication, I want to share my favorite insight: “Managing Panic in Pandemic“
Dori Reissman says, that the word "panic" is used too often, even in a wrong context and have mostly nothing to do with panic. His definition of panic is the loss of the social and inside order.
Journalists should ask theirselves if they really want to transfer this message. The cinfidence of the public is very important for the journalists because they are…

The most important point for me is how people would react in case of a Pandemic. Why it
caught my attention is that it discribes how people react in emergencies and in how many
stages this reaction is divided. In addition to that he explains the difference between panic and
denial.
In my opinion this is the most important part, because you only can reconsider your actions
and keep a clear head by knowing your personal reaction in cases of emergency.

In 10 years I plan to live with my kids and my wife in a plus energy saving house which is
powered by a decentralized home power plant or even solar energy. Surplus energy will be
stored.
The exit from nuclear energy is due soon. Therefor the change to renewable energies and the
expansion of mains are nearly completed.
Also, if there is nothing going to change concerning educational policy within the next few
years then my children won´t be able to get a good…
