A crash course in changing the world.
I think the idea of Prema Salgaonkar will make the biggest change in how we use money in the future. It is really a creative solution for poor people to save money, because normally they are living on $2 day or less and saving money is almost impossible.
"In South Africa, 11 percent of the sample faced a financial emergency in any one year from theft or violent crime. In Bangladesh, 7 percent were cheated or lost cash, and 19 percent lost their home or property through fire or other…

The goal of this mission was to find a news story on the womenwatch web site. While I was on this site I discovered something that I thought was of more importance. The site contains a rather comprehensive sub site on the situation in Haiti. There are various topics on this site that have to do with reproductive health and harm reduction. Finding this site made me wonder if…

I see women as producers, gatekeepers, and shock absorbers!
Meeting world food needs in the year 2020 will depend even more than it does now on the capabilities and resources of women. Women are responsible for generating food security for their families in many developing countries, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Women not only process, purchase, and prepare food, but they also play significant role in national agricultural production, producing both food and cash crops.…

I chose the story "American girls raise awareness and money to fight child marriage in four countries" from WomenWatch.
First you should get an impression of my favorite story:
Every day, girls as young as five years old are robbed of their childhood because they cease being girls and become brides.
However, thousands of American girls between the ages of 13 and 18 who are outraged after learning about child marriage are working to fight it.
These girls are raising…

i already got bored by the computergame Diablo III and sold my equipment and gold to another player via Paypal.
If you are not familiar with these kind of games it works as followed.
You collect equipment and gold to improve, some people find what others need and so you are able to trade yours goods with other players.
Some are willing to pay real money for virtual stuff which makes your equipment kind of a currency.

I think one big part of our future money will be DIY currencies.
They already exist in various forms on the internet.
For example they are used as currencies in social networks or computergames.
You trade real money for DIY currencies which enables you to buy offered services on specific websites.
One large known DIY currency was called QQ coin, it was established by an chinese social network.
That coin become widely trades for almost a billion dollar a…

I read some of the articles and decided to choose one about American girls that raised awareness and money to fight child marriage in Ethiopia, Liberia, Malawi, and Guatemala.
The campaign behind this article is called Girl Up.
In the linked audio file Gina Reiss-Wilchins, Director of the Girl Up campaign explains the different reasons why parents in poor countries tend to get their little girls married to much older men.
One main reason seems to be poverty. All the…

I guess knowlege is one of the most important key to implement gender equality.
When I started studying mechanical engineering I had only a few femal fellow sudents.
And at the beginning it was hard to acquire respect from the teachers and male students. Some just smile at me and don't took me seriously... I had to convience to the people that I really want to study mechanical engineering seriously, and show them that I'm able to learn a lot...
A few semesters later I became…

As the fundamental recalibration of our global economy continues, there is an urgent need to develop, example and mainstream an utterly new structure for the essential relationship between banks and their communities.
The Unified Field Bank, through an innovative application of financial capabilities developed within the banking industry over the last hundred years, is being created to partner with…

I like the idea of ethical banking because an ethical bank is a bank which is primarily or at least to a large degree interested in not only keeping and profiting from peoples money, but also has an interest in the socio-environmental impacts of its banking habits, investments and personal and business loans to its customers and how their baking practice affects local and national and even global issues.…

I chose the NFC (Near Field Communication) technology as a creative solution for the future. This is not really an "experiment" anymore, since it already is an international standard for contactless exchange of data, e.g. the payment process. However, it is not yet that popular and widely spread, why I think this technology will have its impact in the near future…

I already have seen a lot of interesting projects on Kickstarter.com.
One of this was double-fine-adventure where the known Game Designer Tim Schafer (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango) wants to create a game that was rejected by the great software publishers
Another one is…

In my opinion the conventional use of money is out of date. It is time to change especially the environment of it. I think there is much potential connected with the old fashioned concept of money to improve our community besides our normal lifes.
There could be a kind of cashback system for everybody who who handles the duty of our community. I am not only focussing on those people who collect some bottle duting the night in front of a disco, but that is good example of what I mean.…

I was looking for lots of information about the future of money. Until I finally found Jay Cousins. For him, money is just another medium of exchange. He has often dealt with the question "What is money".
He believes that many people think that the structure with the money you can not change anything. Therefore, he wants to try taking small steps to get from the bottom upwards. Because for him it is important that people that need what they can shape itself. His big goal is that…

In the learning part of this weeks mission I wrote about a system that works with talent points. In Germany it's called a "Tauschring". In my research about this system I had some ideas how it could be enlarged or enhanced.
First of all the current system is active in Germany and some other countries like France, Japan, or the Netherlands. But there nothing like a global trading system. You can use the system in Germany, but you can't benefit from your usage here when you are in…

More and more money is used digitally and not physically. A lot of the money today only exists in digital form at all.
Whenever possible I use my “EC-Karte”. It is a service of German banks provided for their customers. With you, pin or your signature and you bank card you can pay in most stores, restaurants and at many other places where you can buy something. The thinks you buy will be directly paid from your account.
There are many systems on the rise, that let you pay with…
