Timebanks instead of money

I think a big change could be to lower the dependency on conventional money by using a time based currency. The future of living could be a small self supporting community. If special knowledge or help(working power) of one member is needed by another, instead of paying money a time bank could be used. The member who is helping "earns" working hours on the time bank, which he then can use to pay another community member for

his working power. Timebanks already exist all over the world…

I think one of the biggest progress is to pay with your mobile phone. It is called NFC. Some mobile phones have this feature allready. The future ones like the Iphone 5 will have it. The advantage is you need no longer credit cards. The amount is on your next bill of your mobile phone. Even shopping online with your mobile phone or tablet will become more popular today.

After reading some ideas I was sure that no idea can convince me completely. The idea, which I could accept is the idea with the social media credits (like Facebook credits, Twollars etc.). I think the first step was the development from PayPal. In the next step, you will have many different kinds of credits in the beginning. Nearly every platform will have their own creditpoints.

The future of the money will get more and more virtual. In the long run the cash will die. But I would go…

Paying via mobile phone

I read some articles about the NFC-technology (NFC = Near Field Communication) and I think it's a possible scenario that in a few decade there is no more cash and everyone will pay with their mobile phones.

How does it work: To pay for example in a supermarket or in the train you need a smart phone equipped with the NFC-technology. You pay by holding your mobile phone in front of a NFC-capable paying terminal. You have to enter a PIN and the money is charged from your bank-account. In…

Bitcoins - an example for a great virtual currency

As I looked through the web I found a virtual currency system called Bitcoin. Bitcoins are virtual coins which can be sent through the internet. The virtual money is transformed directly from person to person without going through a bank. This means that the fees are much lower, your account can not be frozen, you have no limits and you can use them in every country. And this is how it works. Bitcoins are generated by everybody all over the world by running a free application called bitcoin…

The future of money_Act_05

This week I want to tell you about my experiences to 'exchange deals' in my hometown. There it is really distributed that the inhabitants, but mostly children, can earn a free time adventure by theirselves.

In autumn the kids collect for instance chestnuts and acorns to exchange these for an entrance card to the zoo or other leisure facilities. Consequently they and their parents are able to get access without paying money. With reagrd to the social development and the widening gap…

The future of money

I've found several examples for alternative ways of payment or rather complementary currencies.

One of this complementary currencies is "The Yamato Love Machine".

I must admit that it didn't sound too reputable when i first read the description.

If i haven't informed myself about the project, i would have probably associated all sorts of things

with "The Love Machine" but definitely not a currency.

So that you will not be facing the same fate as me, I'll briefly…

Money will be redundant

Ian Morris proposed that presently money has three main uses: the medium of exchange, a unit of account and a score of value. Morris, who wrote Why the West Rules-For Now, went on to argue that we won’t need money in the future because the human body is fusing with machinery. Soon we will all pay for things, communicate and even surf the web by a silicon chip implanted in our arm or head. According to Morris the Six Million Dollar Man has become a reality but will cost a lot more than six…

LEARN5 - Time is money!

After looking at the title “the future of money” I remembered the film “In Time” I watched in cinema. The film describes a world where time completely replaced money as the only currency. Although this film contains many unrealistic elements, it gives us an overview how it could work with time as currency.

Using time as currency also exists in the reality. After reading some articles I know Time Banking as an alternative monetary system. A Time Bank is a pattern of reciprocal…

IMAGINE FOOD 2022

Ten years from now is 2022 and I may or may not be retired by then on a limited budget. Our dinner will be preceeded by hors d'oeuvres (crackers and cheese from local famers and wine from local vineyards. For dinner, we will have multiple types of vegetables (bought from local farmers - I admit I am gardening, cooking and basically domestically challenged...) and seafood bought at the docks as soon as the fisherman arrive (my cottage will be on a beach on the ocean) served by our cook.

Increase Food Security of 1 Person -ACT2

As a result of playing EVOKE, I researched what my community is doing for sustainability and increasing food security. I discovered a few things by contacting a person I knew who is active in bringing local farmers to the community on a weekly basis to sell their products. She referred me to "Together Yes" http://tgryes.org/. Their mission is: "Together Yes, Inc. endeavors to inform and support Norwood residents and businesses in matters…

M-Pesa in Kenya was and still is a great success. It revolutionizes the use of money, because there is no cash involved and it's all more personalized.

It's also a disruptive technology, because it's taking away the middle man in the payment processes (--> the bank) Payments get more easy and direct. The value of the amount is not important.

IMAGINE6 - successful women

“For every one of us that succeed, it’s because there’s somebody there to show you the way out.” You can never journey to a new place without a map. Successful people are checkpoints along the path to success.

Ideally it was me to help this young woman with my global giving blog on her journey to become millionaire.

In my global giving blog I try to…

LEARN6 - why women earn less money

There are a lot of barriers in todays economic life which keep women off earning much money. These barriers are underestimated, but the women's volition to overcome these barriers is underestimated too. So there are two problems to solve to equate women in business life. If you only solve one of these problems, and a lot of people think that there is only one problem, you can't reach women's equality in business life. In my opinion feminists should get in touch with the determinants of…

LEARN5 - Mission 5: Mobile payments

There's one thing beside money you hold close to you wherever you go. Yes, you guessed it right, it's your personal mobile phone. Building upon this fact, SapientNitro came up with a very detailed and interesting infographic about mobile payments in the future. The growing distribution of smart phones makes the development of mobile payment concepts even easier.

There are 3 different types of mobile…

ACT 5

I have found the idea Twitpay this week.

By using Twitpay any Twitter-user can send money to each other user.

You simply write a tweet like @twitteruser twitpay $5 reason for payment

An example with my Twitter name: @ Kathrin $ 5 for chocolate

The lucky recipient cannot paid out all his credit with Paypal yet, but he needs to save up a credit of $ 10. Then he can convert the money into an Amazon gift certificate or make a donation.

Because I have no Paypal account…

How to save 870.000.000 liters of water

I imagine the world water day to be similar to the earth day:

For one hour every person in the developed (!) world should stop using any sort of water in any thinkable way (drinking, showering, handwashing...). As there are thousands of activities where people are using water without even realizing it, this event would create an enormous awareness for how we are using water and how much of it. There should be huge information campaigns accompanying the event creating even more…

Global Water Challenge

I am following the organization Global Water Challenge on Facebook and ecouraged my friends to do so too as I think the first step to create support for an issue of such importance is to create awareness. GWC brings together leading organizations in the water and sanitation sector as well as governments, foundations and nongovernmental organizations to jointly address the issue of water security through partnerships and innovative approaches. GWC already has a long project history reaching…

Frank Brooks

When Frank Brooks died March 19 at the age of 88, Tucsonans lost a good friend. He served intermittently as Tucson's water director from 1967 to 1988.
His efforts assured a long-term water supply for those of us living here in the Sonoran Desert. He was one of the most astute leaders in Tucson's water history. I would like to work with this water visionary.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
