A crash course in changing the world.
"talk to the people who have the problem – and LISTEN to what they have to say."
I feel like this is a very important lesson. It seems to me that most of the time people who try and help only want to do things their way without really knowing what is going on. It is important to talk to the people who have actually experienced the problem and to LISTEN to what they have to say about it and what they have tried to do to fix the problem. By listening you can get things done more quickly…

What a great idea! This project has been in service to developing countries since 1991. The staff at Hippo Water Roller have done a great job at using their exposure to technology to help those who are less fortunate. It is hard for me to imagine not having running water. To think of marching to and from a watering h*** carrying your entire water supply back to your home with you. The Hippo Roller has aided this daily chore by relieving any potential head, neck or spine injuries due to the…

"What you have matters more than what you lack." I like this secret because it really helps in my life in the present and future. It could help me change the world by encouraging me to thrive in what my goal is at the time while trying to save the world.

I received a response from the social innovator I am shadowing! I sent her a message via Facebook. Here is her response:
Hello Ms. Woolls, thank you so much for your compliments! It is a big responsibility that I have now! smile
What is Evoke? It sounds interesting. Please mind my late reply! }
The inspiration for creating Byoearth came in an environmental management class, I was actually really bored but then the teacher started talking about worms and it really made a…

In 2020 I will be in a great collage studying to become a veterinarian. I will do any and everything I can to help those in poverty by doing things such as volonteering at nearby homeless shelters and organizations that work to feed the homeless. Any other ideas I have that could help that I cannot accomplish on my own I will be sure to tell Alchemy.

My favorite is "Listen to the right people" because instead of trying to amagine how someone would feel or what it woul be like in a certain situation you should talk to someone who actually has been. You will find out more that you amagined it would be and what it really is like from someones really perspective.

In 2020 I see myself graduating a good college (not sure which one yet, I’m 12) with a masters in technology. Looking towards the future not the past, I run to my dorm grab my stuff (I already packed) and I hop in my car and head to the airport to go to New York to make a difference in technology. When I’m at the checkout counter about to by my ticket I get a call from Alchemy who says I need to go to Tokyo. I don’t ask questions I just by a ticket and I’m on the next flight to Tokyo. When I…

In 2020 I will be working with a technological company to come up with things that will be useful. When Alchemy calls I will be in Canada on business working on marketing our new product. I will be in my hotel room preparing a presentation. All of a sudden a video chat with Alchemy appears. He tells me to get to Tokyo as fast as possible and explains the food crisis.

6.What you have matters more than what you lack (If you’ve got a bicycle, consider what you can build based on that, rather than worrying about not having a car, a truck, a metal shop.)

Embrace market mechanisms (Giving stuff away rarely works as well as selling it.)

I was backstage about to perform my new song called "Time". Thousands of people were in the audience cheering my name. The concert was for a charity that helps the Tokyo food crisis. I heard my stage manager say,"Ready in 5,4,3,2," but she couldn't finish. My phone started ringing, and I saw Alchemy was calling.I picked up the phone and heard voices right away. " We need you to help with the Tokyo food crisis right away!" I was already out the door when it dawned on me, what about my…

Don’t fight culture (If people cook by stirring their stews, they’re not going to use a solar oven, no matter what you do to market it. Make them a better stove instead.)
This is my favorite secret because it is 100% true. People usually have a mindset towards what they are accustomed to. If people are more familiar with stirring there stews,or if it is all they know on that subject, then there is no point in trying to change there minds. You may be able to encourage them to think…

In 2020 I will be in college studing to be a doctor for people and animals. I've always wanted to help people in anyway I can. It's been a secret passion of mine. When I get my masters degree I will travel the world reshearching animals expanding my knowledge of them. After I finish traveling I will come back to my home town to be a doctor and have a part time job working in a zoo. I love to be around exotic animals. Maybe after that I will study to be an engineer. This is where I will be…

I honestly think all the secrets are valuable but in my opinion the best secret was "what you have is more important than what you lack." I liked this secret because it tells you to use the knowledge you have and not the knowledge you dont have.

In 2020, I hope to be in college to be and architect or anything that involves placing stuff together and or designing. I want to design buildings that can protect people in many ways they couldn't before or make them feel safe.

My favorite secret is don't fight culture. It means don't try to change how people live, but help them in the way they live.

I particularly liked the suggestion that we approach problems as though we are children. Children have no limit to their imaginative capacity, and they are blank slates without preconceived notions or biases. As adults, we tend to approach problems by trying to compare them to other similar problems that we have encountered before and try to make everything fit. We use past experience as a frame of reference for future decisions. This can obviously be a very good and useful thing to do, but…

My favorite secret is to think like a child and that children have no limit to their thinking. I think this will effect the world by thinking of ideas that will help or affect problems in the world in a positive way. Many problems in the world face global warming or poverty and with a child`s point of view you can find a lot of solutions to these problems in a positive point of view.
