By the limited resourses that africa have and other countries like (haiti) we need to come the idea that other countries are the same as they are.By send cla**** to the people of africa and helping them to know the knowledge of organic material that this helps the plants to have all the missing micro and macro elements (nutrients) and home methods that the can do with out spending any money and keeping all the plants safe from plagues that destroys the vegetables and fruits and that way…

Of all the hints and secrets to successful innovation presented here (http://designinafrica.wordpress.com/2008/10/23/innovation-in-africa-tips/), I think that innovation on existing on existing platforms is one of the more important ones. I've been taking a class on Human Geography for the past few months, and development was a concept we went over quite a bit- embracing the international trade model, we…

it is no surprise that the revolutions in design are brought to bear by those minds which are not borne by the accepted constraints of current technology and theory (the box, if you will). Promotion of thought into innovative yet realistic solution is the only means to bring development 'inside the box' (to which the developing world is rather tied to)

Create “transparent” technologies, ones that are easily understood by the users, and promote local innovation. - Amy Smith
As an educational game and simulation designer I was struck by this quote. How can I make the artifacts I design transparent to the end user? I think the core rule of…

A scenario to dream about in 2020: I have my own family business, a hotel in a ski resort. Oh, and the country I live in values the individual freedom and responsability much more than it used to some years ago, with people understanding that they can do for themselves and for others much more than what can be expected from any government and authority. As a matter of fact, in my dream country there is only a tiny tiny government, guarding only the security of our life and properties, with no…

Share knowledge and skills to continue the innovative process both to and from people and communities.
Rather
than everyone trying to find out the same thing people should find out
different things and pool the data. There's no need to find out the
same thing 500 times. Also when trying to find a solution, share your ideas, even the bad ones. A bad idea could inspire a good idea.

Fair enough.
For some reason I've wanted to review what may be the main points of a
book on goal-free living:
- Use a compass, not a map—have a sense of direction, and then let yourself wander and try new things on the way to fulfilling your
aspirations
- Trust that you are never lost—every seemingly wrong turn is an opportunity to learn and experience new things
- Remember…

I hope to be running my own non-profit organization abroad, working to truly address localized needs, attract attention to undermanaged issues, and most importantly by helping others. I hope that by 2020 I will also be in a position to influence others to be a part of the change and to encourage the international community to help the less fortunate.

Many people get stuck on this seemingly obvious concept. In order to be useful to anybody, you have be able to create value (as an idea, a service, a design, a product, a gesture) and then deliver it (get it working and to as many people as possible). You can have the greatest idea, but if it is not reaching many people, you are not changing anything. If you are reaching tons of people with a mediocre idea, you are still not changing anything.
Some people find the first part of this…

A key point that Ethan Zuckerman makes in his article is that problems are not always obvious from afar. Personally this is a very important concept for me, one that can and will help make me a better innovator and thinker. Its easy to understand a problem, to know that poverty and starvation exist for example. However, it is an entirely different thing to be in the shoes of those people who suffer directly from those issues or to even witness them. Coming from upstate New York, out in the…

This objective was easy for me, as I've already become involved with an organization online.
They're working to empower communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS & water crises in Africa. Currently, I'm participating in the 40 days of water campaign, and I organized some of my co-workers to participate in the project as…

Don’t fight culture (If people cook by stirring their stews, they’re not going to use a solar oven, no matter what you do to market it. Make them a better stove instead.)
Too many times organizations or individuals trying to assist with something attempt to create change that comes from their set of experiences and constraints. To create sustainable change the culture changing has to embrace the change fully. For that to happen it has to fit within that cultures set of…

Ten years from today I will be visiting in the ex-guerrilla Santa Anita La Union in Guatemala to help them edit and archive the the media they've created over the past 8 years of communicating and organizing over the internet. I got to know the community in the mid-2000s and realized they had an important story to tell the world. I did my best to tell their story (

I am choosing to shadow Jason Shah's 'I Need A Pencil' Program. It's such an awesome and needed program right here at home, no profit or personal interest is involved, and its outperformed costly tutor-based programs. I am interested in following Shah, reading up on his story, and using what he's done as a template and prompt for my ideas.

The most valuable thing in our lives (after that of course) is experience. As I learned this blog is about sharing the experience we have with each other. Everyday working for a better life people forget what they left behind. Ok, we had fight since now, but in economy if someone wins, someone had to lose. It is not important for me, or to tell the truth, it is I think utopia asking help of rich people, making the right choices, helping the poor. But if this blog had the intention to…
