What was the result of every mission?

After 10 weeks, of everything we can to get true the missions, is the time to see what really happen after we complete the missions. I have to say that every week I learned a lot.

1° Week - Mission: Social Innovation

I search and found the e-mail address of my role model James O´Brian, Principal of BCAM and I wrote to him.

Result: He never respond to the email. :-(… Continue

Mission 6: Empowering Women - Imagine

We want to describe women’s lives after ten years. So we choose two of our classmates who have different personalities and imagine their lives after ten years.

First we want to talk about is Wendy. She is outgoing and always looks on the bright side. So maybe one day she will become a program hostess. She has a male manager. She doesn’t have to bring anything by herself because all of the things will be done by the manager. And every time she goes to a place, there are thousands of… Continue

New Map of Roletto

I imagine that in 10 years time my town will certainly have developed its skills in keeping the environment clean. This is why more trees have been planted.
Plus, we will also have resolved our water problems that sometimes we have during the summer, thanks to collaboration among us by raising funds to build a great container of water that fills up with rain water.
Here is the map, sorry for the bad quality but this is the first time I've ever used Google maps.…

Evokers: Let's Not Change the World

This was taken from a post James Pearson (Acholi Beads, Choice Mob, WikiChoice) recently wrote for Plywood People. I thought it was incredibly inspiring.

Dealing With Threats Using the Lessons of Luck, Creativity and Play

Although I've had friends caught in the middle of natural disasters (the Los Angeles earthquake and the Prague floods), most of my personal experience of threat has been from people rather than nature. From being near Detroit and having a father working in the city during the riots in the 60's, to sharing a neighborhood with warring gangs in Los Angeles in the late '70's and early '80's, to living half a mile from the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001, everything I've… Continue

Challenge: Choosing Which Babies Will Die This Year

Most of the problems addressed so far in Evoke come down to how resources are allocated. The issue of 'unfairness' crops up in many blog posts. I want to solve a real-life dilemma that goes beyond fair, beyond who 'deserves' help, and which comes down to someone having to make a decision about which babies will die unnecessarily this year. If possible, I want to try and minimise the relevance of money to this issue and embrace all the other forms of capital out there - especially social capital… Continue

An Irrelevant Problem in a Resource-based Economy

In 2020, I envision myself living in a self-sustained, technologically advanced city in a global resource-based economy (RBE). Politics and the notion of nationalism of the present have been long abolished, eradicating the present-day problems of corruption, crime, poverty and war. In its place, a global RBE, where decisions are arrived at through the integration of the world's knowledge databases, enables Humanity to use its amazing capabilities to solely advance the human and environmental… Continue

A treatise on the meaning of Evoke, from a pessimistic perspective

Subtitled: An explanation as to why I’m a Doomer.

Shining at the end of every day

There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow

And tomorrow's just a dream away”

Power Outages

I feel power outages would have the biggest impact in my area. We have evolved as a society that relies on machines to clean our waters from disease, process our foods, keep us warm or cool, entertain us, connect us, and give us a sense of 'all is well'. With power, we can solve virtually any problem or overcome any obstacle.

I saw this during Hurricane Juan that hit my city in 2003. The darkness across the city, people trying to find some form of comfort, the…

Resiliency, HAM Radio and Major Disasters

one of the most important actions that must happen in a major disaster is communication. information must be both delivered to a wide area and be aggregated into meaningful data.

Ushahidi is an innovative and useful system. however, a system is only as resilient as the systems it relies upon. what happens when the phone lines and mobile phone towers are not working (as is the case with many disasters)? perhaps we should be considering lower tech… Continue

Money Traces

I found Money Traces to be the creative solution that will make the biggest change in how we use money, because it helps us to know better what we are buying and enables us to make better choices regarding what we buy so that the world will be a better one.

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
