Water for the world

My favorite clean water project is called Water Wells for Africa. They're a non-profit founded in 2011 and they're building wells in African villages to give them access to clean water. Many of the villagers previously would have to walk all day just to find a dirty stream as their water source. This stream was generally contaminated with bacteria, causing lots of disease and infection. With the free time the villagers now have by not having to spend their day walking, education is on the…

Water Projects India

The water project that most inspires me is the project in India. My current roommate and great friend is from India and has told me stories of the struggles for clean water and food security. The idea that water resources can be improved or eventually renewed is both inspiring and motivating.

Learn - Water Crisis

Michael Pritchard engineered together a way to clean out water by filtering out 99 percent of viruses and bacteria that doesn't require boiling. With this portable water cleaning system, he has created a way to help others get clean water to save lives. These filters are not a one use system, so it will be able to help others clean water for the future.

LEARN4 - Lifestraw

The people at LifeStraw have a creative idea for solving the water crisis. A fellow classmate of mine had mentioned the product in class before and it resonated with me. It is a personal water filter, designed to provide safe, clean drinking water in any situation. It is lightweight and relatively cheap.

Water Education in Schools

EcoSchools teaches students about how we can use water. They study the flow of water across their grounds and look for ways to improve water quality and infiltration. Schools seek to conserve water on their school grounds by: installing low-flow water fixtures in their bathrooms; using drip irrigation systems rather than conventional sprinklers; planting drought resistant "xeriscape" gardens; and capturing rainwater in cisterns and rain barrels for future use on school gardens, trees, and…

Water Challenge

At UF, the sororities and fraternities participate in the water challenge to see which house can successfully use less water over the period of about a month and it is really amazing to see how large groups of people are able to come together and work on an issue that truly faces the entire world even though we don't experience any negative consequences first hand. My sorority really took this challenge on and focused on small ways that we could make a big difference.

Air into water?

Max Whisson of Australia has sustained a new way to get water, wind. He invented this windmill that has it's blades trap air into a pressurized area and collect the water vapor. This is quite impressive considering he can produce up to 500 gallons a day with the larger model. His company, Water UnLimited uses this specialized technology to get water in a way most people would not consider at first glance.

Inspiring Clean Water Project

My favorite inspiring clean water project is water 1st International. What stood out to me is water 1st International's goal to create permanent solutions. Many organizations that provide water to areas in need typically create solutions that only last for a year or two. Water 1st International has found that in order for their efforts of providing water to last the projects must be independently owned and operated by community members themselves, place women in key leadership roles, and…

Mission 4

There are so many great water projects all around the world and I enjoyed reading about some of them for this mission. One water fund that I have donated to is the Ethos Water Fund at Starbucks Coffee Shops. By purchasing these water bottles, I have helped Starbucks donate over $7.38 million to support water, sanitation, and hygiene education programs in water-stressed countries.

Lifesaver Water Filter

I learned about the Lifesaver Water Filter while listening to a Ted Talk. The creator, Michael Pritchard, is an engineer who used nanotech technology. He decided to make the problem smaller to work on an individual scale. He created a filter system to give to those without access to clean water. These amazing filters can take the filthiest water possible and make it crystal clean drinking water. You can see his presentation…

Learn- Water Crisis

Joshua Mitchell, a Clemson University graduate student, has been working to bring clean water to a Haitian village. The Cange village and its people have recently fallen victim to a ch***ra outbreak. The lack of sanitation and water filtration only made the disease spread quicker. Mitchell and other volunteers from the Clemson Engineers for Developing Countries program have been working to implement a new water system to provide clean water for the 10,000 residents of Cange and surrounding…

I chose World 1st International. 2.5 billion people worldwide need access to get clean water and a toilet. Each year 5 million people mainly children that are under age of 5 die because of water related illnesses. Diarrhea is the major cause that kills children in countries. Even though if the children survives they usually do not thrive.

Mostly Women and girls carry water to their families to use. Usually girls get no education because they are expected to carry water. The reason is…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
