An End to Negative Sum Thinking

A end to negative sum thinking needs to occur and in the year 2020 perhaps this idea will come to broader understanding. What is negative sum? What is positive sum? Zero sum?

A zero sum situation refers to a situation where nothing is gained or lost from a system. There is perfect balance. A negative sum situation, which is what most agriculture and farming is now, is where something is lost from the system. In this case a plot of forest is lost so that cows may graze for…

Permaculture and growing grass

Permaculture is an approach to designing human settlements and agricultural systems that mimic the relationships found in natural ecologies.

Below is a presentation from TED.com posted on permaculture. This is an idea that I believe with a little effort can produce more than enough good. The presenter, Michael Pollan, says at one point in the talk "You could do this all over Africa" with a tone as if to say "Hey it's really not that hard". If you watch and listen, you'll…

The Living Economy - using the currency of the real world

Biomimicry!

In solving problems that one individual or species is having, use the solutions that another individual or species has already come up with.

It works.

It works even for complicated things like economics.

In fact, it works even better for complicated things like economics, because nature is the most experienced systems engineer in our universe.

And while it might not immediately sound easy to use… Continue

One solution for plastic bags

Hello,
So far I have not posted anything on this blog because this is the first time I have anything worthy to say.

I shall not review problem of plastic bags in detail, but propose one possible solution for it.

In many countries, there is possibility of buying bottled products like beer (and only sometimes other) that come in multiple use glass bottles. These bottles are then returned and recycled.

Is it so…

Permaculture - my introduction

In these times of food scares, predictions of eco-holocaust and political upheaval, it would be nice to think there is a way in which

mere individual gardeners could help put matters right. If there were,

then we could all potter around our plots doing what suits us best not

feeling guilty for ignoring the important national disasters by hiding

in the garden. In more than a trivial way I believe gardeners have

already been helping out in some small manner for many…

The evolved nature sanctuary: a community space for all species, even humans!

I'm at the very beginning stages of starting up a project to promote intelligent land use that uses small garden plots of public and private space to provide a healthy living sanctuary for the wh*** community - focusing on the four main elements of a thriving living system:

1. physical needs: food, water, air, warmth, and light

2. emotional needs: a feeling of personal connection with others…

Act1 - Ali Yapicioglu

Hello Agents,
I have chosen to shadow Mr. Ali Yapicioglu, a partner at In Site architecture. I saw his talk while attending Ted RX Rochester in November 2009. I had the privilege of speaking with him after his presentation and was impressed by his commitment to permaculture in modern architecture. I shall post his TED RX Rochester talk to the video pages if it is still up.

His bio is…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
