I live in a small dorm room. I am limited in what I can do. I can't change the power source from the dorm, but I could possibly change it from the window. My idea apparently isn't original, but I would like to see
Window Solar Panels. Solar Panels could become a power source for my fan [since I don't have air conditioning], or for other small appliances. They could either hang from the Window, or…

Somewhere in my apartment there is a small (approximately 2x6 inches) portable solar cell gathering dust. We haven't been able to use it because our apartment receives too little direct sunlight. When I can, I will take it to my office and place it in a window that receives all the sunlight a solar cell could wish for. When he can, my husband will attach it to his bag and collect solar power as he travels. And we will use the resulting energy collected to power our cell phones and other…

Fabio Rosa's Agroelectric System of Appropriate Technology (STA) rents solar equipment to families in rural locations in Brazil. The rental price is equivalent to what the family was already paying for nonrenewable energy sources that can be replaced by the solar power. Rosa went through many versions of power plans for rural areas before finding this current model that works on bureaucratic, community and individual levels.

My solar installer , Standard Renewable Energy (
SRE) called today and said I should have my 2.45 KW system in about three weeks. After the installation, the panels should provide about 30% of my home's energy.
Its a start.
I'll post photos of the system.

After a pretty long time looking for a way to desing an alternative way for some things I use, I decided there I dont have an inventor brain, and also decided that if I can not desing something new, at least I can change the type of energy I used, adopted a new alternative kind of energy power for the thing I normallly use.
So, researching I found somthing incredible.... the first company who import and sells solar energy products in my country. Punto Feria S.R.L. Import -…

My Laptops Battery died about a year ago. I never got a replacement for it. So I thought about Solar Power for it. I researched some idea's and thought about trying to build something as a project but it would require me to spend more money than I have to actually get something done. So I decided to post my notes about this.
The first set of instructions I read are from this web page. This guy includes pictures and his…

It's August 2020 and my birthday is winding down to a close. I'm reading in bed by the light of a lamp powered by the flower pot on my windowsill. Actually, the energy doesn't come from the pot itself but from a solar photovoltaic sticker stuck to the side. The lamp's power cord is plugged directly into the pot, bypassing the house grid. The power for the house grid comes from solar stickers my husband plastered the roof of our apartment building with a few years ago, but the flowerpot/lamp…

Interestingly enough, though the idea of this Action is to design, many alternatives have already been designed. For example, I already use a watch that isn't powered by a battery, and it used to be owned by my grandfather and then my father! It is a Rolex that uses kinetic energy to keep the movement of the watch. As I swing my arm through the day, it keeps time without needing winding.
If I were to design a way to power something I use every day, I'd want to use similar kinetic…

In my last post, I wondered about solar powered devices and went to google about it as I'm sure what we need should already be invented and Hallelujah! I'm right and in fact more than I could ever thought of, so please allow me to share this interesting piece.

Build It Solar has many projects showing how to use solar power in your house. Projects include solar cooking, solar space heating, solar water heating, energy savings and water savings. Some of the projects show how to build from scratch using parts from a hardware store or even scrounged from a junkyard.
I believe this solar hot water heater is an excellent design. It is easy to build, efficient, and…

For years (20 or more) I have been working ( very on and off) on the concept of a 'portable window'. The concept uses off the shelf bits of kit - all simple and I hope easy to set up.
I have tried to patent the thing but, I simply don't have the money or the time to put in to ensuring I get a return that can feed the family - so - no prototype exists. However, I have proved the concept and many other part-similar systems do exist which prove the rest of my concept.
The idea is…
