Can the governemnts finance the conversion of sewerage plants into biogas plants?

Would it be possible for the governments of the western world to provide finance for the conversion of sewerage plants into biogas plants? Human waste is a good source of the bacteria that make methane, and as such we are probably wasting a lot of potential energy that way. Western Man has Fear of Poo

Apparently (I have just seen this on Teachers TV on cable, I might have mis remembered the figures so dont quote me) in China, biodigesters are used a lot to degrade human and pig fetal matter to make gas for home use. It appears that need has driven them to use other fuels appart from coal.



Why doesnt the governments of the west invest more in poo research so that we can all have poo powered cooking gas and electricity and to move forward to fetal gas powered cars? And, why are we in… Continue

luciferase bacteria

there are night lights on in friends' rooms. constantly on. a slow, steady, painful trickle of energy leak from each one.


so a buddy and i went down to the lab and cultured everyone a couple plates of luciferase bacteria!


this means they glow in the dark as they metabolize. the bacteria use quorum sensing to activate their little glow enzymes, so when a big enough cluster of them grow emerge... bling!
