Many on Wall Street say they'd never seen anything like it. One money

Hijab: why Muslim women wear the veil (burqa)

The recent controversy of the banning of the head scarf has led to much debate. Many people say that by wearing such attire Muslims are looking to maintain an identity that will prevent them from socializing and integrating with other members of society. The following interview of a French Muslim lady shows her opinions on why should wear a burqa.

She has been wearing a burka in public for around 12 years. She is French-born, has five children, and is married to an Algerian. She is a… Continue

ACT1

I found Aviva Presser Aiden online and discovered the work she is doing on getting electricity from dirt using fuel cells. http://www.lebone.org/

This is fascinating technology and I'm very interested in anything that produces power in an unconventional way.

While Lebone is focused on providing this technology to isolated communities in Africa, I would hope that research is also being done to bring this technology…

Can we agree on a first commandment?

As a newbie I can say that I find value in all of the 33 secrets/tips shared in exhibit A. To be a social innovator is to constantly be innovating and reaching beyond your immediate resources and initial ideas. There were 3 secrets presented each under a different source that to me could all be combined and turned into perhaps the first of commandments for social innovators and people working in the development sector.

(The commandment title is not necessary but in the Easter spirit I will… Continue

Ten years from today . . .

Ten years from today I am not just watching yutube videos about the us of sustanable technology, I am helping people to use sustanable technology on a daily basis. I would be, in an ideal world, giving instruction and cla**** in the constructin of wood gas stoves for cooking, making solar energy solutions at home from waste products and showing everyone that green fuel is not just a pipe dream, but a reality for everyone. I will be able to allow people the luxury of being able to dream harder… Continue

Describe the biggest challenge to food security in your own local community or country -- and an innovative solution that is already underway.

In my country, many people are cultivators, I advise them to do a system called closing the loop.

Let me explain "Closing the loop" here: In Ecological Sanitation, when people talk about "closing the loop", they mean closing the loop between sanitation and agriculture (chiefly with respect to returning nutrients and organic matter contained in excreta back to the soil).…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More
