Passive Hydro Refridgeration

As I have been considering the source of energy to be used as my alternative for this mission, my attention was continually drawn to the creek that runs behind the house, as the most accessible and formidable source of energy available. How to use it, though...

I have taken a plastic jug, that I filled mostly with gravel, and placed inside a herbal oil infusion that I have made, and that requires refridgeration. I placed it at the side of the creek, where water runs and not too… Continue

Recovering natural methane from water

This is a great story about a project to remove methane that is dissolved in reservoirs created by hydro-electric dams - http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/6638705.stm

Organic matter sinks to the bottom of the lake and is broken down by microbes. The process is anaerobic, and one of the by-products is methane gas. Methane is a major greenhouse gas and can also be burnt as a relatively clean fuel, but in deep lakes it remains dissolved in the… Continue

Bonneville dam was built by the army Corp of Engineers during the new deal along with several other dams. among the many people provided work by this… Continue
