Water Will Remain A Problem Until ALL have Clean Water

One of a series of 8 videos on water from National Geographic. Well worth the time to watch. Each is around 5 minutes in length and provides local information, perspective and attitudes. Sorry about the Advertising, but Thass part of our internet life too. This project is from Lake Okavango, Botswana,.

In ten years

I moved to the community I live in now with the intent of putting down roots for once and becoming an active member of a community. In ten years, I hope to see that intention fulfilled. I'm not sure in what way - I tend to get bored if I stick with one thing for too long, and once I get bored I lose my motivation and interest. Like the EVOKE team, I function best when working on discrete, challenge-focused projects. My goal is to find ways to make my community a better place by

WATER PROJECTS LEARN 4

I went to this blog post of where the4y talk about how they help out with giving water to a lot of nations and I am surprised that there are a lot of nations that there is and they don't have any fresh water access. This is the cause of many diseases and people dying of food poisoning and stuff because of the water supply and of the people that don't and cant find fresh water unless they go miles and miles into finding a river and come back with just buckets of water for an entire village. I… Continue

The Capital of Food Security

In researching for the second Evoke mission I have discovered something wonderful. Ottawa, where I live is the capital of food security. A bold claim I know, but I think its true. So here's my evidence. This city is the only capital (Ottawa is Canada's capital in case you didn't know) to have a farm right in the middle of the city. And its not some pretend farm to show kids how it all works. Established in 1886, The Central Experimental Farm is 400 hectare working farm that serves as the… Continue

Awe inspiring Water Solution?

I look forward to what others find. A couple hours research, the another hour writing, leave me with this blog :) I gotta say I like the merry-go-round electricity creation for water pumps! Small ways to add electrical power are described in my fictional (but it isn't THAT fictional) story: http://www.urgentevoke.com/profiles/blogs/design-a-new-way-to-power

The Water crisis is real. Evoke URLS…

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
