Future Without Energy

Probably everyone thinks it’s horrible to face the future without energy. But I think it will also bring us some bright sides, too. The following are my thoughts about the changing of the world and the new life style of the future.

Traffic systems will change the most if oil is no longer available. People will have a hard time while scientist haven’t figure… Continue

lets evoke flashmobs in gameworlds

Though our urgentevoke network is more than 19000 strong we are spread out thinly in our realworld. To gain further momentum it might be an idea to organize flashmobs in gameworlds like World of Warcraft or Covert Ops. It looks like a waste of energy to invest time in those gameworlds we are trying to turn around but since it is so fundamental in Jane McGonigal's project and the issue is in this game only indirectly adressed through the…

"Third World" Farmer

Have any of you ever played the game 3rd World Farmer? Its a little game someone made "to make you think". In it, you play a poor African family with a few bucks, a barren patch of land, and four options for what to grow (not counting livestock). Your goal is to get "educated", buy off a politician, make money, get a cell phone, and buy a bunch of machines and livestock.

And "make you think". Thats why they made the game. Want to know what I… Continue

Imagine10: A Manifesto

The purpose of the EVOKE network is to be a mobile and independent team of international crisis-solvers. We are the opposite of terrorists; through using small task forces we spread hope, imagination, and a sense of security, self-empowerment and well-being. By keeping our forces small and our objectives specific, we are able to achieve what large and unwieldy institutions are unable to.

Some of the crises taken on by the EVOKE network are disasters which strike quickly, while others… Continue

Imagine 5 Currency

This currency is called the Ona, issued in 2020, came about after the collapse of the Euro and Dollar in 2011.

World Water Day Event

This would be an event similar to a sponsored marathon run, in which competitors would get sponsors to donate based on the amount of water that they can move. The event would be a water transportation race, where the goal is to move as much clean drinking water as possible, using methods currently being employed in Africa. This will spread awareness by showing what people currently have to go in some parts of the world, to obtain something as essential and fundamental as clean drinking water.… Continue

Great Idea, Challange to the Evoke Developers.

And idea...

This is just an idea I'm throwing around after looking at World Without Oil and Evoke.

But the basic concept is to talk to facebook, and possibly any other small games development sites and maybe even Blizzard to see if they'd get in on it.

And create a game. A real honest to goodness game, like farm ville only dealing with real farming and real farming techniques and issues in Africa.

Give people so much money to buy a plot of land when they sign… Continue

Corruption, international bribery...and the World Bank?

There have been some questions about who the World Bank is, and what their motives are behind UrgentEvoke. I haven't paid it much attention, as I believe that there is a lot of good coming out of the project regardless as to what THEY get out of it. For instance, I've become extremely active in learning and teaching about the things brought up by the game. On top of that, I can see that at least a few of my friends have become interested and are also spreading the word. With all that said, I… Continue

Imagine 6 Empowering women- In the year 2020

n the year 2020 the girls and women that I have helped will be happy and

confident. The world will be changed greatly because my women have

advanced their lives by coming together under the Idea that all people

are valuable no matter what their station or condition in life. All life

will be valued and therefor both sexes, men and women, will learn what

it means to care for their fellow man in a humane and moral manner. Wars

are no longer fought but hard won… Continue

Learn 6 Empowering women- Sexual Violence

I have come to this day for a purpose. I am not here to elevate fear. I am hear to help women fear less. The thing that most people need to know is that rape and other physical abuses are the most common problem for women and young children. As I have said before just about all the women I know have had someone molest them at one time are the other. I want women and children to know that they can arm themselves with knowledge and learn to keep an eye out for those who would hurt them.Because I… Continue

Ushahidi, an alternative use??

I've been musing this week on the connection between economics, security/resilience, and 'systems'. It suddenly occured to me tonight that Ushahidi is a tool that may be adaptable to enable systems for more efficient economics as well as in response to disasters.

To begin with, you need to see this video about how a systemic failure in Africa resulted in famine even while there was a food surplus - Eleni… Continue

Saving the World

EVOKE has gotten me thinking about a number of issues to do with saving the world and social innovation, and it's opened some basic questions. I'd like to see what you come up with, dear agents.

Is it possible to save the world? Have we gone too far? Are there enough people that want the world to be a better place to make it so?

What would be the "win" conditions?

Is it the world that needs to be saved, or are we talking about saving the human race? (i. e. I think one… Continue

LEARN1

  1. What you have matters more than what you lack (If you’ve got a bicycle, consider what you can build based on that, rather than worrying about not having a car, a truck, a metal shop.)
This is important to understand i believe. Why? Well because, it would seem that so much time is devoted to bringing in resources. So

much money spent on just trying to bring whats over 'there' to this

place over 'here'. We could use the resources that the country can

provide and… Continue

Learn 5 The Barter System

The barter system is a very old system indeed. For centuries humans have used it to trade for goods and services all over the world. I think that this is an excellent system should the money system fail us. We all have talents to share for services or goods. Under the barter system though, we as a community will become closer as we realize that everyone is connected and that we need to take care of our weak and elderly. We will come together as a community and then as a world wide system with a… Continue

Evokers: Let's Not Change the World
