Pandemic alarm

There are two groups of people i would call to help. First there are medicine experts who know how dangerous the epidemic really is. The other important group consists public relation experts and journalists who can inform the population in the right way to prevent a panic.
If the epidemic is really dangerous, it needs a third group. Politicans who could organize help efficiently.

improvement suggestions

The first thing I want to say is that I think that the Evoke-project is a great idea. However, I would be happy if more would be done for public relations of the network. I think the Evoke is still relatively unknown. I've also just learned about it because it was offered at my university as a "social innovation"-seminar. I am convinced that many more people involved, if they would be made aware of specific problems and possible solutions.

Now I would like to make a proposal for a…

PayPal

I used PayPal this week for the first time. Although I have heard of fraud in connection with paypal. But I still have a feeling of security. I'm still going to stay attentive. Hopefully it works.

vegetables in the garden

Last week i've visited my parents and have helped them to work in the garden. Important to this mission was to plant some vegetables. Salad, tomatoes, cuc**bers and different spices. It produce only small costs to cultivate vegetables. But more important is that the food is very healthy.

Managing Panic in a Pandemic

I chose the secret about "Managing Panic in a Pandemic" by Dori Reissman.

I think that i've chosen it because i totally agree with Reissmans statement that the word "panic" is used inflationary by the medias.

There might be a wrong prioritization by the most of the journalists, which could lead only to panic. They try to create the most promotional headline to get the highest number of sales. Instead of that they should focus of their core task and disseminate…

National Strategies for Sustainable Development of Caribbean Small Island States

I've chosen a project of Caribbean Small Island States.

The Caribbean Conservation Association (CCA) have launched a project to help countries in the Caribbean to develop National Strategies for Sustainable Development (NSSDs). The project have some aims.

  • "infuse environmental sustainability into all decision making processes of governments"
  • establish a policy [...] for managing the environment of small islands in an integrated manner"
  • "implement…

disaster relief in germany

There are various disaster scenarios that could occur in Germany. I opted for a natural disaster, because due to the increase of the greenhouse warming, weather-related extrem events become more likely to happen. However, floods and storm surges are certainly events that have occurred already in the past.

So...what kind of information could be shared in a situation like this?

There are information that could be needed in the population. For example emergency action plans. A survey…

Biosand Filter in Haiti

The project that i have chosen is "Clean Water for Haiti". The reason why i have chosen this project is that Haiti was already a poor country before the earthquake in 2010. But since this environmental disaster the need of the population is bigger than ever. There are still many homeless people who live in camps. The infrastructure is still under construction. But the most important reason for a clean water project are the catastrophically hygienic conditions. In the october of 2010, a…

Food Safety

I live in Germany. Because Germany is a rich country there aren't such dramatic food security problems than in more poor countries. For the most people in Germany food safety isn't a big theme, because they have enough to eat. Even so there are some problems which are discussed by the population. An example are undesirable substances in the food. There are a lot of imaginable possibilities in the process of production how the food could be contaminated.

The "Federal Office of Consumer…

In 10 years from now...

... i will have a safe job at a big company. That is fun because i will have enough money to provide for my family. Hopefully enough to help my friends and the people around me. Probably i will still live in a apartment in a big city. But there is already a plan to build a own house. Let's hope the situation allows to move to a natural region. At the seaside would be nice. As mentioned previously, i will have a family. There will be my wife and...puuhh...difficult to see all this stuff. I…

My favourite secret of social innovation is "Provide skills, not just finished technologies. The current revolution in design for developing countries is the notion of co-creation, of teaching the skills necessary to create the solution, rather than simply providing the solution. By involving the community throughout the design process, you can help equip people to innovate and contribute to the evolution of the product. Furthermore, they acquire the skills needed to create solutions to a…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
