Urgent Evoke

A crash course in changing the world.

Violence against women in Kenya, a real solution.

Educating women about their rights is all well and good, but in certain areas of the world, it is not nearly enough, if not useless.

Women in the area are constantly raped and abused, and having workshops about their rights will not stop a man from raping and abusing them further, creating only a temporary and ultimately futile empowerment. These women do need the education, sure, but the help they desperately require is of a more tangible kind. Additionally, I am normally…

Citizen X is leaking

It was early in the morning. First day of April and things appeared to promise a very interesting day.

Codename: Hiryu had just finished his breakfast and was looking forward to a very important meeting in the evening. A Citizen X had figured out his identity as an EVOKE agent and had been pestering him day and night for information on the organization and any leads EVOKE may have on current events. Needless to say, Hiryu was more than a little…

The true currency

I kept trying long and hard to think outside the box for this assignment. I looked at Mark Mulkerin's inspired post about the First Bank of Evoke and thought I'd try that, but I wanted to come up with an original idea.

In my quest to find the answer, I looked up the definition of currency, and I found these nuggets:…

The new way of banking

Okay, so I am stealing this one from Evo, simply because of how shocking I still find it.

There are some new ideas flowing at Unified Field Bank that are nothing short of a slap in the face to established methods and traditional banking.

In a nutshell, Unified Field wants to create and promote socially conscious banking by supporting local…

Water Day 2020

January 26, 2020

It was a Sunday like any other. Codename: Hiryu had gotten up late, read the news online, played some online games with his wife and daughter and was getting ready to set up the grill on the backyard to greet some friends later in the evening when a very special phone started ringing. Due to the high activity from Citizen X and the mounting leaks everyone was experiencing, it had been agreed all EVOKE agents would have a special, untraceable,…

Keeping up with the best water purification products.

My definitive and absolute pick for somebody to follow and promote is http://www.lifesaversystems.com/.

Not only is their filtering technology portable, efficient and easy to use, but it is also incredibly simple to bring into destitute areas of the world.

I know I will be recommending their products to anyone willing to listen, regardless of their water situation. The more this system…

Happy Holidays and a Great 2021!

December 23, 2020

Okay, so me and my family are getting ready for X-Mas tomorrow. I am extremely glad we got done with all of the shopping over a week ago, as we usually do every year. However, this year I was not spared the holiday last-minute shopping craze.

As some of you know, my brother and sister came with their families and my mom to spend the seasons with us, and last week we setup the lights outside the house and we all set up the tree…

This is simply amazing.

Just think of how this same technology would work when implemented into current city water filtering systems and processing…

Redesigning Evoke as a game

One of the things that have struck me the most since I joined EVOKE about a week ago is how much it does not look like a game. The only game-like mechanic here are the EVOKE Powers System, and it feels a lot more like a tweaked "like" button on any run-of-the-mill online community/blogosphere application.

EVOKE; indeed, resembles an online community rather that a game, with the people who are a part of it and why they joined it being the only thing setting it apart.…

EVOKATION: Society-changing MMO disguised as a gory, commercial game? You betcha.

EVOKATION: Solar power with a twist

Rwandan toilets and the potty time of the future

Yes, I know other EVOKE agents have mentioned this one before, but it definitely bears repeating for it's simplicity, elegance and great use of waste matter.

Gilbert Twizere, a Rwandan student from the ETO Gitarama Secondary School, and over 30 other students from his school developed a bio-gas chamber that allows to turn methane and other waste-related gases into energy.

Now, this idea is far from new. It has been discussed many, many,…

A meal from the future

April 4th, 2020.

Being in your 40's is always fun. 40 is the new 20, they say, and given our current life expectancy, it is not too far from the truth. Only in the early 20's century, the average life expectancy was between 30 and 45 years. Today, in the first quarter of the 21st, it's shot all the way up to 75. Advances in science, medicine, nutrition and genetics have allowed us to get this far.

Nutrition... the buzz word of the new century. We…

Food security, farmpunking and floating food gardens

How to create food security. Too big a goal for just one person to tackle, even from the design standpoint.

After looking through posts on the ACT2 assignment, I realize how many struggle with this one. It's too big, too complex and much larger than any one person. How could one person possibly develop food security for their region in 10 weeks, let alone 1? Furthermore, with scientists all over the world stumped trying to solve this problem, how could one without their…

Food security or food wasting?

Mexico has a long history of agricultural innovations, both that started here or were fully developed here: the introduction of the tractor truck, land roturing, hybrid vigor in corn, tissue micropropagation, etc.

Right now, however, due to budget cuts and low political interest in the issue, innovations are rare and far between in my country, now. One organization still working on these issues however, is the UN-sponsored P.E.S.A. Recently, they worked on a damn project in…

Imagine your future self.

2020, best case scenario? Interesting proposition.

My best case scenario is actually quite modest. I only wish to stay happily married with my current fiancée, see my future stepdaughter having a fruitful life as a college graduate and have a steady income. Perfect conditions would be me owning an online entertainment/web design firm with my wife, serving browser-based comic books and adventure games that go beyond what current attempts offer and creating web sites for…

Social innovation and cultural penetration

"Don’t fight culture (If people cook by stirring their stews, they’re not going to use a solar oven, no matter what you do to market it. Make them a better stove instead.)"

The reason I signed up for this game was Jane McGonigal's equal parts inspiring and naive talk about online gaming as a way to resolve the world's problems. For all her unbridled optimism and good points about the virtues of online games, she also…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
