Increase children awareness to water issues thanks to a sci-fi book

As some other agents pointed out, I think that educating children to the different important things of our world is the best investment for the future. About water, there is still a lot to do, anywhere in the world, to make people aware of the current problems and future risks.

When I was 11, I read a book called "L'Or bleu" (blue gold) of Danielle Martinigol. The story takes place in the future of Earth, where water has become extremely rare (for instance,…

To increase food security : adopt a chicken

I think the chicken is a really good solution to get food safety for poorest countries :
This animal is cheap, can live in almost any climate, produce about one egg per day, live generally more than 7 year, is easy to feed.

To be more specific, a chicken can be feed with grass, seeds, worms, insects, vegetable waste (peelings from potatoes, appels,…

Using perpetual motion to power a light bulb

This is some kind of crazy idea, and I am not sure it would work. If someone has good knowledge of mechanics and thermodynamics, please read and tell me what you think about that.

I love the idea of perpetual motion. You have to give an initial force, and then a movement is created that will never stops. Real perpetual motion is hard, but an almost perpetual motion would certainly be enough to power a light bulb. We can use for instance the principle of the Orffyreus…

Protecting indigeneous culture through languages

I think that a large part of culture and of the way of thinking of the people in an area is extremely strongly related to its language : the grammatical structure, the vocabulary, etc., it all makes you think differently. (a paper on that subject : http://www.helium.com/items/1376376-how-language-influences-culture-cultural-identity)

In the past, the French state tried… Continue

Possible crisis in Paris : terrorism

I have decided to talk about Paris rather than Chaville, because it belongs to the area close to this city.

Paris and the Ile de France region (region of Paris and area nearby) are not really endangered naturally. There is only 3 things listed as majors risks on the PRIM website (portal for the prevention of majors risks) :
- transport of dangerous goods
- flooding
- terrain's movement (settling of the ground for…

Imagine : First French Community Bank oppened in Chaville today !

Today, April 17th 2020, a Community Bank oppened in the small city of Chaville, near Paris. The inhabitants, tired of usual banks decided to open their own, under the status of non-profit-making association. The cornerstones of this association is trust and knowledge of each others. They reproach actual banks to be blind, heartless, and to play with money as if it was nothing.

Here is an interview of the president of the Community Bank of Chaville, retired…

Mutual exchange of knowledge's network (RERS)

This post is about the RERS (in French : Réseau d'échange réciproque des savoirs) , Mutual exchange of knowledge's network. The principle is that people learn new knowledges in exchange of teaching some of theirs, for free. These knowledges include various things like : foreign languages, cooking, dancing, mathematics, drawing, informatics, gardening, etc.
I really like the idea of sharing knowledge for free. It helps sharing knowledge and that's great, but I also appreciate the…

Food security in France : the disappearing of small cultivated lands and the AMAP solution

In France, we don't have much problems of food shortage. We produce a lot of cereals, animals, vegetables and fruits. The problems are elsewhere :
1/ Food is expensive, so it is hard for poor people to eat correctly (students for instance)
2/ Though we have a lot to eat here, we get used to import a lot of fruits and vegetables from others countries to eat them outside their period of growing in France, and that is a bad thing for the environment.
3/ It is…

Imagine : Afghan city in 2020

Slowly but safely, the traces of the talibans have vanished, though the memories of the violences remained.

The city of Balkh, in the North of Afghanistan, has made a big move forward in the last decade. The small city has became more important thanks to its hand made clothes and carpet shops. Most of them are handled by women who create the clothes and carpet they sells. These shops handlers have also learned selling, and accountability and they earn their money for…

Education, the first step to freedom

I have finally chosen to support Afghan Institute of Learning in its mission to educate girls in Afghanistan (see also this post about Dr. Sakena Yacoobi).

Learning to read is a basic knowledge, but to me, this is one of the most important. If you can read, you can learn a lot, you can understand what you sign,…

Turning air into water

I found two companies (but maybe there is more) working on turning air into water. The idea is to use windmill energy to refrigerate air to condensate water. Water is then filtrated and can then directly be drink. It produce no CO2 at all.

Simone Veil and abortion's law in France

This is not something I found on WomenWatch, but I think this story is worth spreading. Simone Veil is considered as some kind of hero and she is the favorite female figure in France. She is also a great source of inspiration for women here (including me) and she made a lot of things to improve women rights and safety in France.

She was born in 1922 in Paris and is a survivor of Auschwitz concentration camp,…

Dr Sakena Yacoobi, founder and president of Afgan Institute of Learning

About women rights, I have seen a lot of blog posts about Afghan women, and I think too that women in this country certainly need more help than the others, because of the poverty, the religious fundamentalism and the war.

So i have chosen to talk, and try helping Dr Sakena Yacoobi, founder and president of Afghan Institute of Learning.

She was born in Herat, Afghanistan, and she came to study biology and public health in the USA. She came back to Pakistan refugee… Continue

Let's dream about 2020 : what if everything goes just as well as I hope

I woke up at 7 in the morning, trying not to take noise to let my children sleep. I go to the bakery just near to get some fresh bread. I prepare them a breakfast, then eat in the garden we share with our neighbors, taking advantage of the first shiny and warm day in the year. My husband should take care of taking the child to school, before he goes to work.

I work on the other side of Paris, so I take public transports to get there. It is not crowded as it used to be in…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
