In order to increase my city's capacity for the inevitable environmental and economic change I started new construction programs. In order to house more people, large apartment complexes were built. This put a lot of people at work which boosted the economy and also helped to invest in the future residents of the city. I wanted to make sure that there was enough space for everyone and that the population of the city did not become indolent and overly dense. I also wanted to ensure the good…

The future of money rests in the standardization of world currency. The world of 2010 hosted a world of independent currencies, and separate unstable financial systems. This new system would rely on cash/credit cards for all those completing basic registration. It would unify the world and be run under the United Nations. It would be easier to provide welfare for the impoverished peoples of the world if those people had the same currency as the privileged peoples of the world. Banking stations…

I am becoming increasingly active with a food security group in my church that prepares and serves nutritious meals for homeless people in Hartford every week. Rather than typical unhealthy meals, I and other volunteers like to focus on making meals that will truly make tomorrow a healthier time. Hopefully, I can continue to participate in this program and take some satisfaction in increasing my own local food security.

I have e-mailed links to my own family on some of the opportunities that Ashoka provides. I think this group is taking the most initiative to solve the world's problems as it is working in 60 countries and attacking social problems from every side, not singling out any one problem in particular. Also, it calls upon everyday people to volunteer, which will be necessary in the future, since one small group of people won't change the world by themselves.

I am in a government-run eatery where the town farm and food manufacturing place ship food to every single day for all three meals. It is a time when the overindulgence of food is no longer tolerated. There are simply too many people in the world who would be starving if food was something that had to be "earned". Instead, the UN has set up a government-run socialist like food system in which each town/city across the world has a "restaurant" run by the government. Government farms are required…

It is 2020, and women in the world have a much brighter financial future than they did 10 years ago. Thanks to "Give Women the Tools to Move Out of Homelessness" women who were once under terrible financial conditions, were given job training and medical treatment to regain an enthusiasm for climbing the economic ladder and earning just as much as their male counterparts. Whereas before a women made merely 50-75 cents on every dollar a man made, now women are making just as much and less and…

Brigham Young University engineering students recently created a merry-go-round that can generate electricity. They worked on it for two semesters straight, and the machine works as a generator that will be able to provide light and energy in the form of electricity for rural, energy-deprived places such as Africa. Thanks to these determined students innovation, African children will now have educational opportunities that they did not previously have.

In poorer areas of nearby Hartford, CT, there has been an increase in jobless parents leading to a food shortage for them and their children. Much of this is a result of the current struggling economy. Until the economy improves and these people take the initiative to find jobs, my church has increased its community service by going to the "South Park Inn" homeless shelter once every single work. By getting nearby suburban families to cook massive amounts of food for hundreds of homeless men,…

Hopefully, I will be prepared when Alchemy calls for help in the Tokyo food crisis. I plan on using some of the money I will hopefully attain after earning a 4-year college degree and perhaps Ph. D. to help others. Not only do I hope to regularly make donations to charities but also to do service for those less fortunate. I plan on becoming a more involved member of the Christian church and hopefully going on some missionary trips to impoverished and food-deprived areas such as the Dominican…

"What you have matters more than what you lack (If you’ve got a bicycle, consider what you can build based on that, rather than worrying about not having a car, a truck, a metal shop.) "
I really think this could be a key to social innovation in the world today. I know a lot of people who are very lucky who always want more instead of thinking about the millions that lack the basic necessities of life. For example, while many Americans gorge on fast food daily, others struggle…

On World Water Day in 2020, there could be a large event in which people would come and gain entry to the event by donating one water bottle to a worldwide fund and also 5 dollars per person going towards building water supplies accessible to those who are currently short on water. While us Americans may have unlimited access to all the water bottles we need, people in certain areas, like impoverished and dry sections of Africa, could use these water bottles. It could be a successful event year…

Perhaps on Christmas 2020, families such as mine could focus less on the energy-requiring activities and more on family time. Instead of leaving the christmas lights on all day, we could turn them off and set candles up near the tree as an alternate source of light. Also, the in-home heating required on cold Christmas days could come from an alternate source such as wind. This would be superior since conventional fuels are non-renewable like oil and coal. Instead of watching movies, and using…
