WHERE in the world should the network try to build up new EVOKE… Continue

EPEC virus in Germany - How Do People React in a Pandemic?

In Germany is currently being reported a lot about the EHEC virus. Normally, only a few percent (per year) die from the intestinal bacterium, but this year the disease occurs in a higher frequent and there were already 11 deaths that were brought in connection with the bacterium. The bacterium is probably spread over salad, especially cuc**bers, or vegetables.

Amazingly I think of the reactions in my circle of friends. Everyone reads day by day in the newspapers or online about the… Continue

Ushahidi in Germany

In Germany there are in comparison to other countries not many real crises. We could use Ushahidi especially for natural disasters, like high water, hurricanes or a high level of snow and ice.

Now in the peak hours after Osama bin Laden is killed, the system could eventually also be useful for possible terrorist attacks.

Similarly, the system would be useful to search for fleeing criminals. Many times germans discussed, if it should be possible to indicate public, where released sex… Continue

Role of midwives highlighted on their international day

While i was reading some articles on the Woman Watch new feed, I found the article on the midwives very interesting.

"Every day around one thousand women die while giving birth, most of them in developing countries. Most complications and deaths could be easily prevented by a midwife with the right skills, the right equipment, and the right support. But there's a shortage of some 350,000… Continue

Eco Disco in Rotterdam - "Club Watt"

In Rotterdam is the first sustainable nightclub in the world. The core of the eco-nightclub is the flexible electro-mechanical dance floor. The vibrations generated by the kinetic energy of the dancers (10 watts per dancer), gets converted into electricity and stored in batteries. "Club Watt" is not only power saving. The Club tries to give up everything that produces useless waste and electricity. Thus, the toilets are flushed with rain water. And the two Zero-Waste-bars are poured drinks only… Continue

Food Security in Germany

I think in Germany the subject of "famine" is not nearly as acute as in other countries. According to this source round about 11 million people live in Germany at the subsistence level, but i thing the percentage of those who suffer hunger is much more lower.

In Germany there are social institutions that provide starving people with free or very cheap meals. For example… Continue

Listen to the right people.

Listen to the right people. - I think our society still have to learn which people we should listen to. We can see the problems day by day in business concerns, politics and inter human relations.

In concerns manager are deciding problems they have no idea about. Politicans are deciding thinks without asking the human society. And in inter human relations we are often going to ask the guy how gives us less resistance.

I think we can get more innovative, when we are asking the right… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More
