Laurence Kemball-Cook (Director at Pavegen Systems ltd. in London) designed a product that can absorb the kinetic energy produced by footsteps and convert it to electricity! Every time one of theses rubber stones is stepped on, it bends a little. This produces kinetic energy, which is then stored in lithium polymer batteries or distributed to nearby lights, displays, etc. This device is currently being tested in the UK.
