Old wisdom

Being 100 years old, means I was born in the previous millennia. That's a long time ago, back before people landed on the moon.

In the old days we polluted and exploited the world a lot. We used whatever resource we could get our hands on, without consideration for the damage it caused to the world around us. My best advice is never to go back there again. Continue to recycle and use green energy.

I do know quite a few thinks it's easier to harvest the resources on the moon,… Continue

We are equal, but not the same.

I have for some time pondered the question of women's rights. I live in Denmark and even thou this is a "civilized" country, we still haven't even rights. Statistically women earn less money than men. 18% to be exact. But do this mean they don't have the same rights as men?

Is this a simplified way to look at it. I don't say that initiatives to help women should not be taken, but in reality we should support everyone, including men. To…

Kiva.org again...

I'm already ahead of myself. When starting on this game, Kiva.org came

to my attention and I quickly responded by making a micro-loan.

Sure the loan don't pay off any interest, except for the joy of helping

others. But that's worth a lot. The loan I became a port of is now

raised and re-paidmendts start next month.

I feel like being in a lottery. Not that I can win a big prise, but will

my "team" on the other side of the world have success? Time will… Continue

Conspiracy and censorship

Yesterday I saw a blog on conspiracy. I claimed the game probably was run by free masonry, controlling the world bank in order to start wars. It was late in the evening (here in Denmark) so I briefly looked it through, and bookmarked it for a later review. Today it was gone, and this evening I found a post from Jane McGonigal stating that non-Evoke stuff would be removed from the game.

This makes me really worried and sad.

But first things first. The original blog, even thou I… Continue

Well...

Okay, lets start to look at food security in my region. I live in Copenhagen, capital of Denmark, Scandinavia, northern Europe. It has been hundred of years since we had any kind of food shortage here.

So how do I complete this mission? Impossible some would say, but I have chosen to be creative about it.

There are not much to learn about food shortage in my region, so the mission task about learning has been a short one. In Denmark we have a really good social network, so… Continue

Kiva.org

Living in Copenhagen, capital of Denmark, where we have no food shortage at all, I found it difficult to support someone I know in regards to food security.

But browsing the Evoke website I quickly came about the http://www.kiva.org website.

Sure I could find someone to support this way and increase their food security. By selecting a project with long term perspectives I have been able to fulfil the mission.

The Kiva allows for the… Continue

My windmills

This is a special day. 25 years ago my mother called me and asked if I would like to invest in some windmills. We had lived in Jutland some years before and now they were putting up 3 huge windmills just behind our old house.

It was easy to finance the project. We could all buy shares and there were even a bank that promised to finance it all. The windmills would pay themselves back in…

Dinner?

Dinner... that's a hard one. I didn't really have a real dinner for some time now. I live in Copenhagen, capital of Denmark northern Europe. Ten years ago food shortage was

no problem, but that was before the global warming. Yes, I know most

people don't consider a few degrees worth mentioning, but the weather

has become erratic over the years. And for the last few years crops

has failed over large areas of the world, including Europe.…

My hero died some time ago...

When I read the task here I knew who my hero should be. I didn't know his or her name, but I knew who it was. I could pick an other hero, but read below to learn why I keep this one. (Sure I may pick an otherone later...)

For some time I have had a sponsor child in Africa. Actually I have 4. Some years ago I brought the idea to my wife, that we had a sponsor child per child of our own. Like minded as she is, she quickly agreed and soon we had our… Continue

Myself in 10 years

When I look back in time 10 years, I can see my life takes twists and turns, that even I could never predict. 10 years ago I would have no idea about where I live today, no idea

about my lovely wife and no idea about my 4 kids – where the

youngest was born 3 march 2010, as this game started. No single importaint but of my life could I have predicted.…

Just an idea...

Why not looking at the items using the power, rather than the power source it self. LEDs are an example of a light source that really doesn't use much energy and can be powered by low power solutions.

Maybe I can elaborate on that idea. To look at the items consuming power, rather than the source of power.

Provide skills, not just finished technologies.

Well my first task was to take a peek at the 33 secrets of social innovations. It didn't take long for me to find my favourite: Provide skills, not just finished technologies.

The reason is simple, as in this old saying: Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach him to fish and he will be fed for a lifetime.

I have also come to the conclusion that knowledge and education is the way to lift any society. Basic skills like reading and maths provides the way for trade.… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
