REFERENCE: some green power initiatives

Below are some green initiatives I've read about and immediately thought of when I tried to answer the learning challenge for the third mission.

REFERENCE: Photosynthesising electricity and wireless power

"Photosynthesis is vital for life on Earth. As well as maintaining the normal level of oxygen in the atmosphere, nearly all life either depends on it directly as a source of energy, or indirectly as the ultimate source of the energy in their food"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photosynthesis

"Assistant professor Qiquan Qiao in SDSU’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science…

Celebration in 2020

I'll be having a house warming party for the funky little house I've build into a hill somewhere. Maybe I've managed to make the date coincide with international talk like a pirate day (or maybe not opposite day).

The house won't rely on any outside source of energy, instead powered primarily by coating on the entire outside surface. A coating that performs photosynthesis and through induction transports it wirelessly to the consuming devices throughout the house and…

Myself in ten years

This is a description I wrote of the position I want to be in ten years from now, reflected through a perfect day for me. It's the same answer that I gave for my motivation story because getting to this place is the reason I can get up and put effort in through the day.

In ten years I really hope I'll be financially stable, maintaining enough unaccounted-for time to pursue new projects, to travel and be involved with communities in many different areas. I'll be working…

Personal Heroes

So my first thought was to shadow one of my childhood heroes: Dr David Suzuki. I'm a fan of him on Facebook and am following him on twitter.

Then I realised he wasn't so personally active at the moment so I turned in the direction of…

Greenpeace: Nestlé International buying palm oil from destroyed rainforest

"Nestlé, the world's largest food and drink company, is making some of your favourite chocolate bars using palm oil from destroyed Indonesian rainforests. As a result, threatened species like orang-utans are being pushed into extinction and huge quantities of greenhouse gas are being released, accelerating climate change."…

Quote: Marcus Aurelius

"Because your own strength is unequal to the task, do not assume that it is beyond the powers of man; but if anything is within the powers and province of man, believe that it is within your own compass also." - Marcus Aurelius

Do the hard work needed to find a simple solution

"Do the hard work needed to find a simple solution. As Leonardo da Vinci said, 'Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication'—and it is the key to this type of design work." - Amy Smith on rules for design in the developing world.

I really think this is the key to good design in all fields. Sometimes it takes a little bit more thought and effort… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
