micro-funding

I came up with an interesting game involving microfinance. Basically it works with an understanding of one line:
"I commit to finding ten people by the end of month. I commit to consensus decision at the…

akvo

Akvo is an open source initiative well worth attention.

Water does not behave well. It crosses political and geographic borders. This is problematic for the monkeys in charge of the planet, but turns out to be the critical condition which may bring us as a human race together.

2020 party :)

This one is easy.

It's 2020 and we can not quite believe what has happened. That's the nature of achieving ideals.

I've been living on the Maldives, with stints on other islands, for years now. Converting the local political economy to zero-carbon was easy, after all President Nasheed was the first national leader to commit to carbon-zero neutrality way back in 2009. What happened beyond even…

my mum

I talked to my mother about converting her garden from mostly flowers to vegetables. She didn't buy into the idea of a disaster looming on the horizon, and should there be a collapse, her efforts would be much appreciated by her neighbours and community.

With this little nudge from EVOKE, I will try again. Hopefully she will read this and understand that it is for us to make use of what we have. My sister is good in the garden, and I'd be happy to go up and visit for a week…

TRON+

TRON was made in 1982 and it foretold the coming of the computer. To all intents and purposes, kids are growing up in the machine, and we have not yet hit fully immersed virtuality yet. Kids care more about their games than they do about the real world; like adults care more about their work and money than the environmental impact of economics. Animals are dying, our natural world is being bleached of diversity, of life itself, and the real suffering due to economic imbalance are being…

femi longe

This guy is the business. I met him in 2007, and he impressed me with his character and leadership.

I have attended his Africa++ events in London, an attempt to encourage innovation amongst distributed networks.

He is definitely a leader/facilitator, and I would like to invite him here to describe what his current plans are.

make do with what you've got

Innovation is about ideas, intention, and time. Materials, money, people come after.

Several innovators have written up their top advice for innovation. Nobody is presenting a complete, comprehensive system, but rather heuristics for ideal/practical innovation.

One stands out for me: Ethan Zuckerman's 6th point:…

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
