Women power!

Hello, My name is Karen and I am proud to say that I have recovered hope

in my life. My life was difficult to say the least. The women in

Kosvoco as smart as we are were just things. We held no power in our own

country. My country was a country were women had no right. My mom was

one of those stereotypical wife who stayed at home and looked after the

kids. I did not want to turn like that. I remember fighting with my

mother as I started to get older. She opposed to… Continue

Women's rights

Right now, I'm learning about Women's Rights in different countries. I actually don't know a place

from the top of my head that doesn't have equality for women. It makes

me think how would my life be different today, if I was in one of those

countries with no equality at all for women. I really think it would be

really horrible and I can't imagine not having equality. It's like a

nightmare almost...

"The female…

Kosovo-help through Education

In our group, we decided to help spread word about women empowerment through education.

http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/support-women-empowerment-kosovo/

This specific project is important since from what I have read and some of my group members have read, education is lacking in these situations. Education is a powerful tool that I think is mostly full of benefits. BY having more… Continue

New currency

It was an interesting thing to see when you wake up one morning and notice for once something different about your neighborhood. It's strange but has happened before since I notice things a little slow at times. I would probably walk outside and look at the new building a little puzzled, but go inside anyways without much difficulty. It would probably a bit crowded, but the people don't notice me probably as they go up to some computers. I would probably be confused, but glance at a nearby… Continue

World Water Day

Well...let's see. I would probably be more of the person to advertise the secret event. I would probably go around telling people to join and try to get those people to tell their friends. I would probably be the one to try and come up with something, but in the end just add to the ideas of what people throw out. I think that having something active yet something that people are willing to do will be the key. Maybe bikes or something?

Alliance?

Hmm...I really don't know which one to choose. I really just want to help. If possible I would probably try to be in all of those...I think that knowing you'll help someone is satisfying.

Best solution for water in my opinion

I really liked the playpump idea (http://www.waterforpeople.org/programs/how-we-work/solutions/). I think that it will help with the water and actually give joy to some of the kids on it. I really like the idea.

power

Well the first thought that came to mind was those light bulbs that help the environment. The ones with the weird spiral shape to them. I think by replacing that with the light in my room would help lots. They also last longer then most light bulbs. Another thought that came to mind was solar power. Sure, people have probably have said this already, but Solar power is a powerful yet untouched source that could probably help us through our daily lives.

Help the hungry!

Hmm...I'm going to try to help in a local garden I guess. I really as much as I would like to help, I don't know where to actually start from. I guess I can help out at the garden in front of school.

Power Players~!

Well I actually just typed in social entrepreneur and electricity on ask.com. I was curious to see what I was going to get and I got a lot of links to choose from. I actually pressed the first one on there which is this one : http://tech.ashoka.org/Community_electricity%20generators. Well it's Lalith who created a bio-massed generator to help produce electricity for rural Sri… Continue

My favorite holiday...

In the year 2020, I think that my favorite holiday will still remain as

New Years since It's my birthday too. I would probably throw a party

New Year's Eve since I think being with friends and family during this

time is really important to share your thoughts. I would have probably invited a lot of people over and they would probably be over until the next morning. Anyways, we would probably crowd around the television as we watch the countdown on times square beginnings (I hope… Continue

MY Hero

I have to say that my parents ( as cheesy as it sounds) are my heroes no matter what. I mean they gave birth to me and made me who I was today. I wish I had a link for them but you know...they don't have one.

Dinner

I think that in the future my somewhat bad eating habits will haunt me. I would probably be eating with my husband perhaps and we will probably eat something simple. It is dinner after all too much food is a bad thing. I would eat whatever my husband cooks since I'm a horrible cook to start with. I would have probably gotten it though since I have more free time then he does. I would have probably went to a supermarket really close to the apartment we live in. It would probably be some what… Continue

Food Security

Food security...Actually this word is a long world for Hunger. Everyone

knows what Hunger is, but the word is too common for an issue like

this. Food Security is more correct for the fact Hunger is fixed within

a few minutes but Food Security it takes more time. Food Security is

more of a huge issue. It when people lack the access to food to every

single day and to maintain a healthy life.

I found this map at:… Continue

The Year 2020

In the year 2020, I would have my own apartment with a grumpy neighbor next door. He would be banging on the wall like always because of the loud music dancing around my room. I would bang on the wall too just to piss him off more since it's amusing when he's angry. It would probably be the afternoon since the mornings are awfully...awful. I would yawning loudly as I walk into the kitchen with my laptop in hand. I would probably be eating as I start typing away on a doc**ent on my lastest… Continue

Innovation!

Well my favorite quote has to be is

"Don’t fight culture (If people cook by stirring their stews, they’re not going to use a solar oven, no matter what you do to market it. Make

them a better stove instead.)"

I like it because it saying that Technology isn't always going to win. Some people like old methods and we should be really open minded to what they want. I think we are getting so drown in new technology that we forget the basics. The… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
