Evoke Over

Well it was an interesting run that's for sure. Got to think of some interesting stories, got to realize some new stuff, got some info and class stuff for my students later.

Will this change anything for me or many other people out there? Probably not.

Simple solutions for world issues are all around us, even if it's just everyone donating a few pennies every day, if every person on earth gave $.01 a day we'd have over 6 million every day to deal with world problems. But even that… Continue

EVOKE ACT10 - Season 2 novellet - "Great ideas often receive violent opposition from mediocre minds." -Albert Einstine

"Look I just cant!" Ty cries at the computer screen. An urgent EVOKE from alchemy flashing across the screen asking all active agents to step up and assist the main group.

Closing the computer lid she stands and paces the room while some of her guild-mates look up at her with curious eyes.

Looking at them a wave of guilt, anger and despair wash over her and she turns to leave the room quickly.

"What's going on?" one of her friends asks softly finding Ty curled up in… Continue

Morals for those who don't know the word

I was skimming the forum when I noticed a question in a post asking "How would you explain morals to someone who might not have them?"

It kind of gave me a pause.

One of the responders (A.V. Koshy) responded that he's never heard of a society of people that does not have some kind of moral guideline whatever they may be.

And this is true, every society or coming together of humans has some kind of "Moral" agreements made within them (even if it's begrudging agreements… Continue

EVOKE- ACT3: Not an act but a critique...

Changing Power.

I was just thinking about the sOccket soccer ball http://www.soccket.com/ and one of the problems I have with it and potentially any other energy entrepreneurial things out there.

The issue I have is with the lack of entrepreneurship. I would, personally, here and now, love to have a sOccket. I would pay to have a sOccket, I would give sOcckets to the soccer club at my school right here and now, and I can think of thousands… Continue

EVOKE - IMAGINE2: No really it takes like 3 months to grow a potato plant to first harvest. And they said my zombie survival kit would be useless.

"I think I hate potatoes…" I say glaring at the offensive spud. Trying to make gnocchi out of it and the handful of flour I can use for today I impatiently burned myself on the hot tot trying to crush them too soon out of the hot water.

Potato Bannok, Potato Gnocchi, Potato casserole, potato filled potato seaweed balls.

"Aren't you Irish?" My roommate asks jokingly, referring to the amount of potatoes the Irish traditionally ate.

"1/4th Scottish actually but who would… Continue

EVOKE: LEARN2- Local Food Issues

"Wow" My boyfriend exclaimed his eyes following where I was already looking. "A wh*** pack of doughnuts for 130Y! That's so cheap, why don't you get some?"

I cry on the inside as he said that. I don't have 130Y to spend on doughnuts. I have to buy rice and some noodles and some cheap frozen vegetable mixes. I'm freezing my own potatoes and carrots so that I can have them for the next few months. I have no money for the things I want. I bought myself some flour so I could treat myself… Continue

Great Idea, Challange to the Evoke Developers.

And idea...

This is just an idea I'm throwing around after looking at World Without Oil and Evoke.

But the basic concept is to talk to facebook, and possibly any other small games development sites and maybe even Blizzard to see if they'd get in on it.

And create a game. A real honest to goodness game, like farm ville only dealing with real farming and real farming techniques and issues in Africa.

Give people so much money to buy a plot of land when they sign… Continue

EVOKE: VISION1 - 10 years seems so long, and yet so close...

"Don't say it" she said to me as she walks onto the roof.

I try and stifle my cheshire grin, after all starving people is not something to be joking about but I've always had a black humour. You can either laugh on the edge of hysterical or you can cry your way off the ledge of a building.

Neither of them really solve anything but at least one makes you feel a little better about the world.

Wandering over my rooftop garden I check and see if any tomatoes are ripe yet. I'm… Continue

EVOKE: ACT1- Find a social Innovator to Shadow

I can watch, I can watch from the shadows at those who can do what I cannot. Silently cheering from the sidelines, dropping assistance when I can, be it a donation to a relatively small organization to a tiny local event to gather those donations to an avid defense or subtle mention of the person I idolize when and if their name will come up in conversation.

The very person who brought me here is… Continue

EVOKE: LEARN1-What does it mean to be a Social Innovator.

Social Innovation.

I'm not even sure what that word means all the time. I guess it means doing what you can to change the world. But when I think of it, the word, what it represents, what you have to do.

I lose hope.

This is the opposite of what a person should feel I imagine, when they think of… Continue

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
