Crop Option For Farmers In Benin

Farmers in Benin are mostly into the cultivation of cassava and seasonal Maize. While most of them concentrate on this Crop, a minute number are into cultivation of other crops such as Plantain.

Plantain cultivation is very lucrative. You see the advantage by comparing the returns of cassava farmers to those of plantain farmers. While Cassava farmers continue to toil the soil without a change in their initial status, Plantain farmers…

004 WATER CRISIS

Water 1st Project

One of its event: Water 1st-Beer Second, is inspiring considering that water is essential for life whereas, Beer is optional. As water and Beer are simultaneously at the disposal of certain men, others live in the absence of the former. It becomes important that the first people decides to give water to those who do not have it befor econsidering the less important consumption of Beer.

As the rest of us shout aloud at the alarming state of tasty people in…

005 THE FUTURE OF MONEY

ON KENYAN M-PESA

I saw this example and realised that the practice is spreading spontaneously. For I do not think the Kenyans consulted with Nigerians, vise versa.

In Nigeria today, cell phone recharge cards are used to effect swift money transfer. The sender buys the recharge card say five hundred Naira, scratch it and send the pin number to the receiver through text message or phone call. The receiver there after sells the pin to a public mobile phone service operator…

005 THE FUTURE OF MONEY

FALLOUT OF ELECTRONIC TRANSACTION

I have always wanted my own share of Solar battery Charger. This task became an opportunity to get one. Though i have checked for it in physical stores to no avail, it seemed very abundant in cyberstores. Hence I ordered for a piece.

It was a very swift process that required the Visa Card number. Soon the charger was paid for with the click of a button. After receiving the Charger, I began to wonder what this means for the future.

I was…

005 THE FUTURE OF MONEY

Breaking News: Development of a strange Banking system called "The Cash-Barter system"

The Cash-Barter Bank (TCBB) is founded by the people of Igun, Nigeria to make money, material or service available to the common man.

The operation of the Bank is in a form of a middle man. Costomers are required to deposit material such as a portion of their harvest, points are given depending on the ratio of weight to actual market price of the commodity, and the…

007 URBAN RESILIENCE

Ushahidi could be applicable to election fraud and violence in Nigeria by presenting usable data on ballot box snatching, places where there were violence and attacks on innocent voters.

Ushahidi can also be useful in sensitization and orientation of the people by the electoral body. It can also go a long way to curb the problem of missing names in voters registers.

Most of the malpractices during elections are carried out in the rural areas where communications and security…

006 EMPOWERING WOMEN

Fund 40 Women’s Micro-Credit Loans in Ghana is a self help project that comform with my values which is that the power of development of local people should be placed in control of their own destinies. But this project requires loyal support.

The simple components of my approach shares some unique characeristics with a oroject of this nature. Hence, it becomes pertinent that I include it as part of the Agenda.

Eventually, say in the year 2020, With my vagirous support,…

006 EMPOWERING WOMEN

Engaging Men and Boys as Partners in Creating Gender Equality http://www.unfpa.org/public/news/pid/4996 It is essential to state that boys are also prone to disempowerment as evident in the Ibo people example.

The Ibo people of Nigeria are inclined more towards educating the girl child and giving the boys out to be tutored by a trader. Ibo boys apprentice are rampant all over Nigeria. They are expected to serve their masters for…

003 POWER SHIFT

The Day Of Evokation!

The people of my community are all gathered proudly celebrating a success that every other person believed to be exclusive of the foundation they laid. Why not, considering how wide spread the experiment that began in this village?

They are so joyous that people all over the world can point to their village as the first place where the recent popular practice-that is rapidly changing the face of the World-began. But as they role out the…

007 URBAN RESILIENCE

NEMA: http://www.nema.gov.ng/resp&recov.htm is the only Urban resilience plan that could be sighted in Nigeria. Disaster such as flooding is a bedevilling situation that the people had to face every rainy season. After each round of lament, the same event repeats itself without any concrete solution in place. Now that Urban resilience is on the table, i know no city where I could point to Urban resilience plan in Nigeria. Even NEMA…

002 FOOD SECURITY

Where are you?
It is March 10, 2020. Am living in a quiet Town called Igun in Southern Nigeria.
Am eating Egusi Soup and pounded Yam with members of my family, Workers and Friends; as a Routine since the Bulk of the food is from my immediate Backyard. The Fish was caught from my pond; the chicken meat was obtained from the Poultry I built on top of the pond as a source of chicken droppings feed for the Fishes; the vegetables, Pork meat, Snails, and other products were…

001 SOCIAL INNOVATION

In the year 2010, I will be living in a traditional Urhobo Village (in Southern Nigeria) called Igun. This village is one of the few places around the World that still retains most of the traditional features associated with pre-colonial communities. People tend to see it as retrogressive as evident in the existence of so many mud houses. But I see a future where the same mud could be used to build better and cheap homes that will contain all the basic utilities associated with modern cement…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
