Journalism and crisis

Hello all,

Today, I'd like to blog about the role played by journalists during a crisis. This subject is very interesting as we come to globalization.

First of all, let's see an exemple: Greece. It was a "small" crisis until the media jumped into the story and started to write articles every hour or so about how bad the situation is. The result was the unjustified crash down of the stock markets around the world. On the other hand, as soon as the…

The EVOKE network improves

Hello all!

I strongly believe that the EVOKE initiative is a good one and that it has a lot of potential to change the face of our world. On the other hand, in its actual form, not much will be accomplished. We write blog posts that are barely read and whenever someone has a solid project, it has no visibility.

The solution that seems to make the most sense is to have a website and a community revolving around PROJECTS instead of people. We…

Green floating cities

Hello all!

I've made a lot of ressearch in the last few days to find something really interresting to talk about. Really, it's been hard, but I found something incredible.

Most scientists agree that the sea level will rise constantly for the next decades. Many islands will disappear and many shores will be flooded. This raise the following issue: Were will we go?

One of the many solutions is to buy floatting cities!…

Excessive logging in the Pacific

For this week, I decided to talk about a region I know well for I've visitied it few times: Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

In those small countries, locals have taken care of the land forever, but then the chineese arrived, bought the land from the locals for a ridiculously low price, and started massive logging. China being the biggest wood importer for the next 20 years at least, it seems logical to invest in other countries. That way, they go to other countries, then send…

There is a right answer to moral questions (and women's rights)

Hello everyone!

For milleniums, the question of equality of men and women has tore the humanity. Going back as far as the Bible's Genesis, the woman is said to be inferior (she's the one who picked the apple). Pretty much all religions state that men are superior to women.

Last week, I watch this awsome video from TED:…

Improve the way you express yourself

Hello everyone,

I've realised that many people all around the world have great projects, from saving the world to the creation of super multinationals. Unfortunatly, most of the people won't ever materialize those projects for many reasons. The main reason is a communication issue.

If you are alone and have a great project, it's hard to make it come true. But if you can express yourself properly to share the idea, to promote it and to sell it to…

Learn5 -> The more people, the more power to shape the future

Hello everyone,

Today, I'd like you to ask yourself: What is the greatest threat to the planet at the moment? I think it is consumption. If everyone in the developped countries would cut by half their consumption, the huge population of the planet could still be sustained.

At a micro scale, what you can do is saving money instead of spending it. But even more, we could get together to do it. Let's illustrate my idea with an exemple. Suppose that…

Learn5 -> Tomorrow's bank

Today, a new type of bank appears and it is meant to change the way we live. The credit card is outdated, as well as most of the other ways to proceed a payment used in the 20th century.

We have created a watch that, on one hand, recognizes the DNA of the wrist, making it virtually impossible to steal or copy. On the other hand, everything will now be paid in a simple click. Every time you have…

Learn5 -> Back to no money

Hello everyone,

For many years, I followed many projects that different people had to go and live in isolated places, alone or in in a new small community. I finally never got into any of those projects, but the issues were always the same: What about health care? Accross all the projects, this was the major issue.

But then I spent a week on Malakula, an island belonging to Vanuatu, and in several isolated villages, the local did not use money.…

The promised land (Slam)

I believe that one of the things that have the most powerful impact is a song, a poem or a speech. Here's something between all that. It's a draft, I might have some inspiration tomorrow to add some details or events. EvokingWater.mp3

Please leave a comment. Unfortunatly, my camera is not working at the moment, so I can't post a vidéo.

Pure water everywhere

Hello again everyone!

Water! What an interesting subject! In fact, I spent 10 months living in the Pacific (Vanuatu 7 months and Solomon Islands 3 months) and I've faced that problem.

When I arrived in Port-Vila (capital city), it was not a problem because they had appropriate installations, but as soon as I left (after half a day), I did not have access to clean water. As it was my first time in such country, I did not have any purification…

LEARN3 - Energy out of everything

Hello everyone,

I’d like to add a couple of ideas on the cleaner production of energy. I’ve been particularly interested in the creation of biofuel from the dumps. I’ve been surprised by the case of Sweden where a major portion of

the natural gas that powers the 23 000 gas powered cars is made of the

methane released by dumps.

Basically, the natural gas is less polluting…

LEARN2

First of all, I believe that food shortage is one of the greatest issues of this century, if not the greatest.

We are almost 7 billion people on Earth and it should go up to 9 billions around 2050. Already today, we are over exploiting the soil, leaving the layer of good soil thinner every year. On top of that, a growing part of the harvestable soil is used to create Ethanol, leaving less place to harvest food to feed the populations.

But there's…

LEARN1

Hello everyone,

While browsing the list of secrets, I came across one particularly interesting point: Sharing.

I gave a conference recently that was about how to give. Have you ever heard the old chineese proverb: Give a man a fish and he will eat for one day; teach that man how to fish and he will eat forever?

That proverb strongly relate to our modern society where we tend to give such fishes. But there's one moment…

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Let's start with the chemical constituents of this plant:37 % Non-Nitrogen-Extracts19 - 29 % Ash9 - 21 % Fiber4 % Fat22 % ProteinOnce the leaves are drid, their protein content can reach an astounding 40 %, which is much higher than beef, which even under the best of circ**stances can never exceed 31 % protein. In addition the Stinging Nettle consists…See More

The meal

It is 7'oclock, I was late home from work due to an assignment that i wanted to get ahead on. By the time I get home I am feeling extremley tired and I cannot be bothered to make a proper meal. I walk to the fridge and open it to see what there is for me to eat. All of the out of date foodstuffs have been automaticaly thrown away by the fridge, they will be recycled tomorrow as animal feed or something. I see i have organic local eggs and some local cheese. Foods are vacc** sealded for easy…See More

Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
