A crash course in changing the world.
In 2020, my City will be controlled almost completely wirelessly and disasters will be noted so quickly that the response time from emergency officials will be at least cut in half from what it is today. People will be able to get live feeds of international and national news as well even quicker than we are already used to. Important buildings will be located right next to one another in a main town square for easier community access. Houses will be divided by community preference such as…

It is hard to teach people about a topic that I know so little about myself but I asked a few of my friends to watch some of the informational videos with me and it definitely was interesting to learn about urban resilience in our own backyard and what steps we, as community members, need to be taking now.

I was very excited to learn about this revolutionary technology that will no doubt both save and change lives all over the world. I think that as people continue to utilize the open aspect of the software application, they will develop new and even more innovative ways to use Ushahidi so that ultimately it can probably become the new way to broadcast emergencies internationally.

Females in 2020 are free to follow their individual hopes and dreams and are not made to feel secondary to anyone else. Men respect women and their bodies and women all over the world are in leadership positions and positions of authority all over the world. Women are not afraid to point out their opinions at home or in the workplace and are confident in their sexuality even if it was not considered conventional in 2010. We have a female President in the US and it is a breath of fresh air…

My friends and I are very serious about supporting this cause and consider ourselves to be very passionate about helping women to truly make leaps and bounds in the grand scheme of the world. I have decided that I am going to make it my mission to write and publish a book about how to be a strong woman even in the face of opposition even though I have not faced opposition compared to millions of other women in other parts of the world. I want to write it to help young women grow up knowing…

I found it very interesting that one of the hot topics on the Women Watch page was the issue of early marriage and women speaking out against being forced to marry early. In many cultures, I know that it is very common for marriages to be arranged by parents and family members without any input from the people being married. It is a shame that women in some parts of the world are viewed as so dependent and insignificant that they cannot even choose for themselves who they want to spend the…

Breaking News! A new bank has just opened in Florida this year (2020) and it is no longer lending money to people. Instead, you can use only what money you actually have in your name and instead loan money to friends and family personally. This decreases the enormous amount of debt that is such an issue in this day and age and instead forces you to live within your means as well as count on support from those around you and not the government. The bank is called Hands Bank because you can…

Today, instead of paying my roommate back for food in cash, I asked her if she would mind accepting an alternate form of payment and when she agreed I cleaned her car for her. This is an example of a service that would normally cost her money, but instead I did it for her to pay her back for something else. It worked out well and I feel that it was truly a "win-win" situation.

It is very interesting to consider the future of money not only in this country but also around the world. Bartering is an ancient way to exchange goods and services and it seemed to work out fairly well for the most part so it would be interesting to see what a modern barter system would do for the global economy as people had the freedom to live more within their means and actually contribute their goods or services to society.

We are going to try and make everyone all over the world wear a swim suit on this day in 2020 to draw attention for out need for water not only for drinking but in so many other aspects of our life. If everyone is wearing a bathing suit, we will get lots of media coverage, which will be a perfect platform to address the needs of our world in terms of clean water and more of it!

I am going to post signs in the bathrooms where I live reminding people to turn off the water quickly and when they are done using it immediately so that we can start habits that will stick with people even when they leave college.

At UF, the sororities and fraternities participate in the water challenge to see which house can successfully use less water over the period of about a month and it is really amazing to see how large groups of people are able to come together and work on an issue that truly faces the entire world even though we don't experience any negative consequences first hand. My sorority really took this challenge on and focused on small ways that we could make a big difference.
