Forest Reserves, Clean Water and Low-Tech

In many places in the world, water is unclean b/c people take out the ecosystem that cleans it. Thus, the rivers only flow after rains and then go dry. When they do flow, they are filled with silt and all kinds of effluent. When people reserve the forests in the mountain highlands, they can go up into the forest and tap springs for fresh water.

Urbanization and Corporate Farming

I live in Oklahoma, USA, immortalized in musical culture by Rogers and Hammerstein's musical, in which performers belted out lyrics that would become the state's official song "Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains...," as well as performers asking "why can't farmers and cow-men just be friends?" Oklahoma is still a predominantly rural state with a high Native American population, significant rural poverty, and depopulation of the country-side as rural youth move to… Continue

2020: Boosting Transformation

In the 2020, I've mastered the art of "promiscuous triading" a term coined by John King to indicate a mode of behavior in which a person is always working to connect other people together who share similar goals in order to boost their potential to accomplish great things.

I am imagining myself as a leader in a liberal arts college that has a deep network of alumni and students whose lives have been transformed by their experience in a community that values clear thinking, hospitality… Continue

John King, maker of tribal leaders

As a senior partner at CultureSync, John King, along with David Logan and Haley Fischer-Wright studied a wide array of organizations in the practice of coaching them to become better at what they do. They observed that organizations possessed dominant organizational cultures that either empowered them to achieve great things or constrained them from being effective. They categorized these organizational cultures in terms of "tribal" stages. They found… Continue

Share in Cultural Context

I'm inspired to link two things as I explore becoming a social innovator:

1) culture matters; and

2) sharing = contributing and being contributed to.

The way I link these things is:

Culture supports behavior. It supports both positive and negative behavior. Social innovators often notice negative behaviors and set about creating a solution for them. Because culture is the lattice upon which our of lives are organized, most people are relatively conservative when they… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
