Food Security, harder than I anticipated...

Hello fellow evokers,

I must say, figuring out a plan to improve food security on a local level was far tougher than I had thought. After quite a bit of consideration I have arrived at a plan. It may seem underwhelming on the surface, but I believe that if you really take the time to consider what I want to do you will understand my reasoning. Before I tell everyone about what I intend to do, a little background is in order.

One thing that you are going to have to come to… Continue

Feeding the hungry in Florida

Hello everyone. I'm here to share the results of a program that I recently discovered that was run by the state of Florida. It involved several state agencies and private companies working together to help improve food security among several at risk sectors of the population. It was a 5 year program that ran from 2000-2005 who's results are available in a convenient and easy to read presentation online (… Continue

23 March, 2020: The Best Day of My Life

"Wake up Michael, you're going to be late if you don't get your lazy butt out of bed, its already 5:15."

Thankfully my beautiful wife was blessed with the capacity to function before 9AM. If not for her comforting reliability at waking me I would spend my mornings running an hour late in a wrinkled shirt and mismatched socks.

As my feet hit the floor that old familiar thought runs in my mind. "Its a good day," I say to myself, a habit I've kept…

A fact based world view........ what a novel concept!

If you have ever used or heard the phrase "the developing world" then I recommend that you listen to the words of Dr. Hans Rosling. Any of you who found you way here through TED.com as I did might already be familiar with the wonderful talks given by Dr. Rosling. Using a brilliant visual graphing program called gapminder, Dr. Rosling has set about to change the way in which the world views itself.

Personally, I was truly inspired the very first time I watched one of Dr. Rosling's… Continue

"I love that you've brought this to attention. An extensive database of uncommon but resistant and hardy plants/foods could be developed and organized by climate. Ease of growth and processing should also be taken in to account. I will try to…"

Fourth of July on the Lake

This past weekend was the annual celebration at the lake house in Connecticut. It is amazing that the lake is still so clear and beautiful after all these years. The watershed association has done a wonderful job protecting these waters from the damaging effects of development. The wood grill was finally ready to cook on, so we didn't miss the propane tank fueled grill anymore. The food actually tasted fresher than in the past and was easy to keep fueled.Dad was very proud of the solar hybrid…See More

Stinging Nettle

In this blog post I will focus on a plant that is abundant in our nature, and which is immensely nutritious. It's of course the Stinging Nettle. Future

FutureToday is 2020/1/1. It is just like yesterday. The war is still continuing. It has started since 2010. In 2010, that year was a horrible year. Almost every energy ran out. Every country’s governments were crushed down at the same time. There were riots everywhere. All of the big company’s bosses were killed xdeadx in the riots. Troops fought each other everywhere. Food was bought up xawayx at once. There were no more food supplies in any shops. The economy was all crushed down. All the…See More

public servants

The exchange works directly for state and public workers and servants. It gives them credit in exchange for the amount of public work they contribute to the community. The more constructive they are based off a base rate the more credit they recieve.
